Garcia has proven himself to be more than capable in the CL, so I don't think the panic about him playing in it is neccesary at all. He was far better in the CL for us than he was in the league. Barry on the other hand was a complete liability in the CL, both campaigns and looked completely out of his depth. He was fantastic for us in the league, but not having him anymore will surely help us in the CL, noone who plays instead can do any worse than he did.

Garcia was ok in the Champions League against who ?!!
All the games he played? He was perfectly reasonable against Real, we fell apart after Rodwell came on for him against Dortmund and after he came on against Real at home we bossed the second half. Obviously that is irrelevant, as Garcia hate now can be applied retrospectively apparently, so can be applied to games that noone had any objection to his performance in at the time.
He has the turning circle of an oil tanker and the speed of a rock.

You obviously have a big soft spot for Benfica and Garcia might have been quite the player in the Portuguese League but he has not nor will he ever be able to cope with the Premier League.

I'm not particularly fond of Garcia at all, he was never exactly a fan favourite at Benfica at all. I am merely neutral towards him, which when surrounded by the vast amount of undue hate he receives on here, makes me seem as if I have a soft spot for him.

He is by no means a great player, he is merely a useful player, when used properly. I merely object to ridiculous vitriol he gets on here that seems to have gathered over time as a release for every player at the clubs poor form. Some of the shit you read on here about him is just madness. He was good enough to win the league in Portugal, be a key part in getting to the semis of the Europa and QF's of the CL, yet apparently according to some on here, isn't even championship quality. Or is it that Benfica are so much better than us that they can carry a player as useless as Garcia in the champions league? I highly doubt that.

I'm sorry if I refuse to jump on the anti-Garcia bandwagon, blaiming him for everything and making hyperbolic statements about him at every opportunity. I'd much rather attribute blame where it's due, rather than just scapegoating one player.

I dont get why the hell we'd do this move.

Seriously, we loan him to Everton, who then sell Fellaini to our rival as soon as Barry is secured. How the hell would that make sense?

We missed Gaz Baz today, the first half especially, when he could been in there breaking things up in midfield when Hull (I still can't believe I am actually saying this!) we're all over us and dominating the midfield.

It would have been a good option to have GB on the bench ..... Instead of Garcia.

Better a part ex. We'll have Fellaini, they can have Barry and we can sell Garcia. Otherwise keep Barry and put him in the team at Stoke.

The Gareth Barry situation is right up there with NDJ as being unfathomable - both good players, both play a huge part in stopping the other team, shielding the back 4 and setting up offensive play, and yet both go for peanuts - Barry and NDJ for a combined selling price of £4M, replaced by Garcia and Fernandinho for close on £60M combined looks incredibly strange

Agreed, and it seems to me that Silva tends to play better with Barry in the team.

Absofuckingloutely. If Everton are going to pocket £40 million plus from selling 2 players to utd, we should 100% be looking to sell not loan, and to get a few of those dirty millions coming our way. And as for talk of us subsiding his wages....

Don't want him to go, I think we will miss him over the whole season.
