Basel (H) Post Match Thread

said in the pre-match thread that i felt basle would fancy themselves against that side and seems i was proved right. i know we dont have to worry about a side like that turning up in the big matches to come, but makes me worry a bit about some of the players in the squad. Lastly, Yaya shouldn't wear a blue shirt again

Disagree. Hopefully we wrap the league up soon and he gets to make a farewell performance. He deserves that IMO.

Rubbish, a "better second string goalkeeper" would not be prepared to spend his time on the bench.
Bravo was at fault with the second goal but he plays the keeper as sweeper system that Pep likes.
Not many keepers can do this.

He did it poorly tonight especially in the second half , if Basle had better players who could press he would have been under all sorts of pressure.

No way can we afford to play him in games that are important in Europe and Domestically outside the two cup competitions but he always more than capable of gifting opposition sides a easy goal that most keepers can handle.

Any idea how this result has affected us on the World Club Performance Index?

Haha you mean clubelo?

This result not at all as it's the result over two legs. Spurs losing will have an affect though on all English teams.

Dropped a place to third as a result of Spurs.

Should also note that last time out Basel were only a single game back from a long winter break, so they were much sharper than in the 1st leg

Disappointing performance from the team but some invaluable experience for some youngsters tonight who I felt did well given the quality of the opposition

Just realised that when I got home tonight and my wife had my beer ready (as usual), it was the first time in over a year that I arrived home having watched City lose. And I go to all the home games. Am I in a bad mood? Not a bit of it. Do I feel let down or disappointed? No. Do I wish I hadn't made the effort? No because it was interesting to see a changed team and observe the performances, on a night when the result didn't matter. I want to watch every single minute possible of this team, this season. Being a supporter is being a supporter.
Oh and by the way, that was Jesus' first full game after a long lay off with a serious knee injury. (Just in case people didn't know that).
