Baseless speculation Iheanacho/Bony

Honestly, I can't even start to think how MP could possibly think Bony offers more than Kelechi.
It's like defending the indefensible.

I know many of us find it increasingly weird that MP seems to prefer Bony to Iheanacho. Some people here might say there is a very straightforward reason for this - that Manuel is a miserable, old, misguided, blind moron who should have been sacked a year ago.

Nevertheless, I was wondering why MP might do this, as I thought Kelechi's performances on the field seemed to add more to the team than Bony's. There are obviously more factors that determine selection than performance and fitness, notably attitude. Could that be the problem? In interviews, however, he always seems very focused - a model professional, imo. But you obviously can't always judge things from the outside.

The other possibility might be around the club's hierarchy: they know Iheanacho has a future at the club, so he has nothing to prove at this stage, but they want to give Bony a spell of games before the summer to see whether he is up to it or not? I have trouble believing this, though, given we are fighting tooth and nail for a CL place (or rather, we should be fighting tooth and nail...)

More informed and knowledgeable comments to inform this baseless, clueless speculation are welcome.
Your third paragraph makes some sense of the situation. I'd add that Kelechi is being saved for the biggest games...including next Tuesday. He really is very good.

The ghost of Saddam Hussain could manage us for me as long as he wins sufficient matches. I don't need nice at my football club, I will happily accept a complete twat if it means winning.

The only logical reason I can think of is that Bony has something in his contract that gives him number two status which I find a ridiculous notion but hard to explain otherwise.

Could it be to do with the agreement we have with nike maybe? I dunno he does appear a hell of a lot in club merchandising and advertising + marketing ?

You don't rest a player for a month for a big match when he's healthy. MP has lost the plot, he doesn't trust youth players and he no longer cares about City. Those are the only explanations.

Felt sorry for him last night. He looked totally out of his depth and quite frankly a pub player.

We are all in agreement over this conundrum!! Alas, I had a dream that Bony was plying his trade for Everton next year. This reasures me but still doesn't console young Nacho not knowing what Pep will do. MP has took a good group of players over the past 2 years and systematically reduced them to an average team at best!!

It's difficult to come up with any other reasonable explanation. I was very defensive of Bony for a long time but it is just impossible to suggest he should be ahead of Kelechi now, even for those 5 minute sub appearances at the end of big games. Bony seems to have lost it to the point where he can't even control a ball anymore. He's an utter liability even if he's only on the pitch for a few minutes. Whereas Kelechi can actually come on and improve things.
