can we do something about posters who continually exaggerate, and make exaggerated sweeping statements to make it sound like they're informed and have a clue, but actually don't, and are just spouting emotional, pre-determined nonsense, usually attacking some aspect of the club?

This "it's the end of the academy" nonsense upstairs because one player has left is just rather manipulative and completely over the top.

It's very difficult to control.
It's the use of emotive language to win an argument rather that using facts and observable evidence. Unfortunately made very popular by politicians and know nowt experts.

My post to you has nothing to do with my moderation, for literally the fourth time.

My opinions aren't entrenched by any means as anyone who moderates with me will attest, in fact I'm rather flexible and go with consensus all the time.

You don't know this of course, because you don't know a single thing about my moderating. As your opinion is totally uninformed thus worthless.

The amount of grown adults who get their knickers in a twist because somebody points out they said something stupid and wrong never ceases to amaze. You lot need to stop wrapping your ego up in your opinions, especially if they're crap ones

If it makes you feel better and reinforces your opinion of yourself then you win, you obviously cannot even consider the possibility that anyone else could have a view about a subjective so let's leave it.

As it happens, I agree with this. I hope your post wasn't aimed at me as I have really tried to be constructive (ok, until my last post to Damocles) sometimes posters on here are over emotional, young, inexperienced, uneducated etc. you just have to accept it as part of a forum

I again apologize that point out that having an opinion on something you literally hold no data at all on has offended you so previously. I'll pre-warn that this won't stop me pointing it out if you were to make the same mistake in the future.

Not at all at you Ronnie, it was a genuine response to JMW as the thread he his talking about is near a very measured and polite boiling point but all because you have one side arguing from a position of assumptions against another side asking for evidence. And the arguments without fact are using very descriptive emotional responses which are really way over the top.

This is what you get. I am sure Damocles is a decent guy but it is very difficult to engage him in a conversation of equals because he doesn't seem to accept that that could even be possible from the evidence in this thread with me. Opinions are by their nature a mixture of objective and subjective. Sometimes you are given enough info to come to a logical conclusion and sometimes you are more subjective. For example, how many times have you met someone and come to the conclusion they are a "wrong'un" and been proved right?

it's not a difficult one to grasp to be honest. I don't tell Sweep how to manage his clients, as I don't have a clue.

Think Ronnie is seeing Damo the poster and equating it to how he must moderate, well that's the only reason I can think of for this "conversation" to continue.

Hey Ronnie, I like you as a poster and understand your frustrated, your right, you won't win this argument and should give it up, this is the 4th or 5th time you said you were finished, but each time you end it with an insult, which then triggers a response, and the cycle begins again.
Forget this thread/arguement and just enjoy the rest of the site.
Your not the type to often cross swords with mods, don't bother fighting other people's battles
