The Clash did one punk album and a few punk style tracks on other albums. But on the whole they were just a guitar band who experimented in loads of different musical styles from straight up rock, two-tone, ragga, dub, pop, and more straight up rock.

People, stop calling The Clash "punk"!

Of course they were a fucking punk band.
They played punk music and lived in a squat.
They evolved into other styles,but they were initially punks.
Oasis,on the other hand,are a crap Beatles tribute band who didn't evolve at all,but disappeared up their own arseholes in a blizzard of coke.

People,stop calling Oasis a band!

Never heard of the clash, my grandad informs me they were brilliant and musically were groundbreaking and invented many chords such as G and D?

He also claims that they are the only band able to perform powerchords as these are the hardest chords to play so most bands avoided them like the plague.

As a city supporter from manchester my vote goes to oasis even though the clever music types state they just copy the beatles and can only play the glockenspiel
