The Clash did one punk album and a few punk style tracks on other albums. But on the whole they were just a guitar band who experimented in loads of different musical styles from straight up rock, two-tone, ragga, dub, pop, and more straight up rock.

People, stop calling The Clash "punk"!

The Clash existed at a time when punk was as much a state of a mind or a way of life than a musical style.

With that in mind, every album The Clash recorded was a punk album for numerous reasons.

Punks record triple albums of ska, rock steady, jazz, dub, rock n roll, rockabilly and funk.

Green Day record album after album of 3 chord dirges.
