Just a reminder - this thread is about Bayern V City, it doesn't involve arsenal or psg, if you want to discuss them please head to the general forum. This thread is for celebrating City beating Bayern on their own patch, however unlikely it looked !
Thought city defended really well second half as team at bayern. The wokrate was top class. City did really well second half to stop bayern full backs getting forward at will.
Indeed we did, we were awful for 15 minutes, but we got a foothold, and held things for a bit, then took control last 10 minutes of the first half. We never looked back. We also rotated our squad to great effect considering our next game. Great night for our club for me.
"COME FEEL THE NOISE"
"YOU GOT DAVID MOYES"
"WE BEAT BAY-AY-ERN"
"WITHOUT YA-YA-YA"

Hard to put that in words. The first 15 was so bad, but what an amazing recovery.

Couldn't be prouder of how we responded. How long since an English club won there? And we almost nicked the group.

Just amazing. Well done, guys. Bravo, Pelle.

not long, in fact the last time another english club played there they beat them 2-0

Just finished watching my recording of the game. Think everyone deserves a special mention.
After 15 minutes we got tighter to Bayern all over the pitch and grew into the match more,
with every passing minute. Just shows even the best teams will struggle if you show the
work, commitment and application that we did. Also play a bit when the chances arise.
Same application (after 15 mins that is) by the team on Saturday and Arsenal will wonder what
fucking hit 'em.

I think best i seen city work as a team away from home since chelsea away game. You took control but fought hard off the ball which you not done enough away from home.

If you played like you did from 30 mintues onwards tonight you win most of your away games. Workrate of the ball was so much better.

Silva was amazing for you tonight. For someone who has been out for bit thought he was out of this world. Got to respect him on saturday.

some nice words from Pep tonight reported by Goal

"I think it is something we have to know - that we can lose," Guardiola told reporters after the match. "Opponents have good players and coaches too. It is always difficult.

"But we started very well and for the first 30 minutes we were very good. Later we had to use the ball better and use our counterattacks. Manchester City are a good team and you have to have more than just possession.

"Congratulations to Manchester City on this great victory. Sometimes you need to lose a game. In the Bundesliga we have won everything, in Manchester we won 3-1, but now we lost and have to cope with that. But we're already looking ahead to next week in Marrakech [for the Club World Cup]."

Bayern finish top of the group despite the defeat to Manuel Pellegrini's men and Guardiola believes his side should be congratulated on their performances during the group stage.

"In the first half we did not make many mistakes, but during the first 10 minutes of the second half we did not play very well. In general we are satisfied," he said. "We met a great team in the group phase; Manchester City played quite well tonight.

"I congratulate the players on their success and I hope we understand now how difficult it is to play in Europe. We did not always have the right player in the right place on the pitch. We have to work on this – that is the lesson we learned today."

He a very nice bloke and a fair guy. I think city deserved it and bayern took them for granted. Can,t afford to play like that again if they want to win back to back champions league. Their not unbeatable and they need to that their are some other quality teams in the tournament.

Very proud of the players tonight. They bounced back from a terrible start to record a great result. And when I talk of a terrible start I don't just mean our performance but also that linesman who missed 3 pretty clear offsides that led directly to both Bayern goals. But we bounced back anyway and did so with half a team missing.

Zab, Milner, Ferna, Navas, Silva and Dzeko had good games. First time I've seen Dzeko win more headers that he lost. His holdup play was much better than usual.

It's just a pity Negredo didn't tuck that one away tho it would have been weird to then see Pellegrini go all out attack when we'd already be through! lol. "typical City" is still there somewhere! :D

The only real dampener tho, for me, is the excruciatingly bitter/negative script that Sky go through when they cover us - especially on Champions League nights. Only Souness and Gary fucking Neville ever seem to give us credit. Incidentally they're the 2 best pundits going atm. Carragher and Glen fruitcake Hoddle really don't like us, do they? Don't think they really give any team credit unless they're Liverpool or Spurs/Chelsea tho, so not unexpected.

the reaction by city fans on this thread is so ridiculous. not because you won or that it wasn't a fine achievement (because it was) - but because every time a gooner has mentioned our game against bayern last season when we beat them 2-0, almost every city fan responded with the same comments - that the win doesn't really count and can't be taken seriously as it was a meaningless game for bayen/bayern were already through/bayern didn't take the game seriously/bayern were just going through the motions etc etc.

the fact is that if we had scored 1 more goal which we almost did, we'd have gone through the knockout tie so it wasn't as meaningless as people suggest.

it's funny how when arsenal did it, numerous city fans tried to discredit the achievement using the above reasons/excuses at to why we won.

funny how those exact same reasons/excuses can be levelled against you tonight but that hasn't stopped all of you being really happy and over-joyed like you've just won the champions league.

my point - don't knock other teams achievements and their fans reactions then behave in exactly the same way when you do it.

bottom line - your totally right to be really happy as you've just beaten the best team in the world in their own back yard - exactly the same as we did last season.

it's just banter I think mostly, especially in the light of Gooner bringing it out repeatedly as evidence for how brilliant you are and how you're better than the rest, so I think it's partly a reaction to that, and partly a reaction to the fact that we play you on Saturday so we're not going to be as kind as we were back in the early months of the season, this is a huge boost to us tonight and has got the juices flowing.

He's our manager in 2/3/4 years. And he'll bring Messi with him

(ok, not sure about the latter but I'm almost certain about the former)
