BBC licence fee

You really don't get it do you?

You just said RandomJs opinion is in a minority, but it really isn't. If the BBC went subscription only like most media providers these days, they would go under or have to seriously scale back.

They should make it a tax and bin off all this bailiff shite it is so outdated.

as I say you just don't get it.

The BBC is £13.25 per month - for all it provides from TV to Radio to online learning etc etc thats amazing VFM. If they send it subscription many will still pay - they could make it £20 pm and keep up most of what they are doing just exclude people like yourself from seeing or hearing or accessing any output. £20pm is a fraction of a SKY or BT subscription and of course effectively privatising them removes the requirement for free or reduced fees to the elderly poor - care home residents and those with poor eyesight - harsh but the commercial world is tough.

Then consider all those channels you get on Freeview from Global Radio and UKTV and the like - they have shareholders who will say well hang on in this commercial world where the BBC charge us to show repeats of their shows why do we give them away for free - we need to make more money and go subscription. To maintain the status quo would be more costly for individuals and perversely could free the rump of the BBC up to be properly critical of a govt who no longer controls their purse strings nor editorial output.

It might be great value for money, doesn't mean it interests me one bit. Plenty of people are going to struggle to make ends meet very soon, and if they are given the choice of paying a subscription to the BBC or making do without you know what they will choose.

I don't use SKY or Virgin either for TV tbh, I stream anything I want to watch and never use the Iplayer. Times really are moving on fast especially this industry, so either the BBC becomes a tax or it dies.

I thought your complaint was it is a tax

As I say your own hatred of the BBC and its funding model is not of itself a reason to penalise the whole country. I'd love to know what it is you stream that does not originate through BBC funding or patronage

I don't hate it, I hate the way it is funded and makes people end up with criminal records and cause undue stress. It is all but in name a tax.

So I would rather everyone pays for it as a tax and surely it ends up cheaper per person too.

In which case your argument makes no sense - " I hate the way that everyone has to pay the fee its like a tax. I want the fee to be replaced with a tax "

Lol you being serious, you know full well what I mean. Instead of paying a private firm to harass people and pretend they have vans and all the other shite they send. Why not just tax people properly and lower the cost per person. It is a tax so do it the correct way instead of its current disgrace which is a waste of funds.

at what rate of tax? would those below £12500 earning pa be exempt? Would it be a graduated tax so that say someone earning £120k pa would be taxed more than someone paying £20k pa?

You really think you did something with this? lol. It would not be my job to determine the correct method of taxation.

Going bed now.
