BBC: lorry deliberately ploughs in to german christmas market

1. why is it a cock up with the first man of Pakistani origin? Honest transparent mistake seems more the case
2. what is the Tunisian suspect wanted for and where did you read that is wanted for something already? I am not aware of him being am existing suspect for anything. He has previously been investigated, but he is not suspect for anything outstanding unless you can show me otherwise

They were tracking him back in March as he was planning a future attack - this is a guy who has changed his nationality and alias on numerous occasions and was arrested for 4 years after violent robbery and burning down a school - they decided to stop tracking him in September.

After leaving his identification under the seat of the lorry they arrest and detain a totally innocent Pakistani man. The real suspect is able to walk away and has still yet to be captured.

Whilst I admire your stance on this issue - it's clear mistakes have been made and quite rightly Germans people are getting angry and anxious.

No. Youre misunderstanding my point. I was responding to Citizen TID who had some theory about how they could have arrested the suspect for the other offence he was wanted for. I was making the point that there was not another offence he was wanted for so he was wrong. He was under suspicion and tracked earlier in the year, but that investigation ended. Being surveilled and wanted are two distinct things.
And the other point you raise is also wrong. It is purely a sequence of events, the wrong man was arrested almost immediately and then the investigation found the wallet of the true suspect in the lorry. Two distinct unconnected things. There is no correlation between the two, cant you see that? By that I mean, the wrong man wasnt arrested because the wallet was not yet found. The fact that police in the area who combed an area around the attack site arrested someone else has no bearing on the real attacker escaping, he had gone anyway.
I have no stance on this issue, just saying the facts.

It was Sky News (TV) who I'm about 91% sure from memory reported he was wanted for something like assault (at the time I was watching) so your statement of me being wrong is a bit pre-cum.

My point of it being odd with the identification was that it seemed to come out 24 hours after. Of course none of us could know the details of the case as it's very unlikely the press giving us our info. will either.

But that isnt odd is it? Nothing odd about it in fact. Crime scenes are closed down and then examined. Hence the wallet being found the next day.Simples
