BBC: lorry deliberately ploughs in to german christmas market

I agree. And I'm not into conspiracy stuff at all - just seems odd or very much a bodge job that they arrested the wrong suspect, and the real attacker left all his documents under the seat ..and somehow managed to get away and is on the run. After driving a huge truck in one of the busiest places in Germany. Not saying there is a conspiracy but can't fathom how all the above has happened.
Well there was a fight in the cab of the lorry when he hijacked it, so that is very simple and things being dropped in that fight is to be expected.
I also dont see it as a botch job in arresting the other man either. It is patently an honestly made mistake quickly sorted when it was found he had nothing to do with it. In fact, the transparency around that completely undermines any silly conspiracy bollocks. Wouldnt they have just 'fitted him up' or 'pinned it on him?' rather than just release him and publicly say it was an honest mistake? I take comfort in the fact that a copper there thought to try and make an arrest. As for the 'somehow managed to get away' bit, well I would think the resulting chaos and carnage would make an initial escape pretty realistic in the immediate confusion and panic. Nothing to have to fathom about it, it is very obvious how it has happened, no?

Dont be silly. Why not just fit the first suspect up then?
I didn't imply to pin it on him. Just to feed that to the media in the short term. The first guy clearly they have nothing on and is probably totally innocent, whereas feeding the press someone with a record/who is wanted anyway (not seen if he has been linked to terrorism, but if is, all the better for this solution), takes the pressure off until they gain a proper lead.

It's certainly something worth thinking about in their position anyway. I don't know how "official" the media source for this guy is though. If not come directly from them, they can later deny accountability for feeding it.

Yeah I think you have really struck on something there, well done.

In a world of CCTV especially in a high risk area in Germany where security is on red alert then yes I do think probability is low.

However , I take your point. Police service and security must be beyond tough when terrorist strikes. So mistakes are understandable.

That would make zero sense if he comes up with an alibi and they have to explain how they found his ID. (Which they'd have obviously made up)

How do you think that cctv cameras would stop anyone making an escape, or for that matter going from point A to point B?
