Beginning The 2025 Rebuild of City

The team needs a rebuild that’s all.

I still think we have more than enough good players already but it’s obvious we are missing a few top tier game changers.

Having an inferior manager come in now to sort it out would go the same way as the rags. I do believe the club tried to do what’s right for the players it just didn’t work unfortunately.

You can’t replace people like Kev,Gundo, Bernie, Walker while they are still at the club. Instead we have tried to build a squad to complement them and step in when needed.

Now it’s serious rebuild time I expect them to get it right.

Time we realised our size and throw our weight around. The greatest manager is at our club, use it to give us a sporting edge.

Money is the only way to test a clubs resolve. Penny pinching is not the correct approach to top tier players.

Decide who we want and go balls deep.

But neither are anywhere close to prime Mahrez. An aging Mahrez needed to be replaced by someone much closer to his peak level. Even in his final year with us with reduced playing time Mahrez managed 19 goals in all comps. What are we doing here? Are you really going to disrespect Mahrez like that? Mahrez was a better player than Doku, Savio, and Grealish combined. Behave...
As for Gundo I'd prefer Barella or Bruno G. just to name a couple. You're making a point that half decent players are better than older washed up players who were once elite. C'mon mate, that's some silly shit...
Again, this is bad faith. Reading my response in a vacuum.

I responded to a post that said, I'd rather have Mahrez now. My response is pointing out that Mahrez like Gundo and many of the aging players people pine for after they are gone, are often past it and it's a mistake to want them back

Whether the current players are close to prime Mahrez is both irrelevant and not the point. Rather the point simply is that an old star CANNOT replicate their past performance anymore. So stop pinning for them.

I said NOTHING regarding who we should or shouldn't get. You can check my opinion prior to some of our current acquisitions. I wasn't impressed with most. But that's neither here nor there.

The point is past aging stars should NOT be an option. No matter what the current situation is.

We need to forget wirtz and musiala as they are not coming here but I like Simons and j think he is getable.
Agree on Wirtz and Musialla. Disagree on Simons. He strikes me as the kind of player who's talents would be greatly minimized by our style.

Agree with that...

Just a RB to throw in the mix since they are hard to find. Oscar Mingueza was a former product of Barcelona’s academy but now plays for Celta Vigo and is 25. He can play different roles as a RB, including wingback and inverted fullback the role Pep is adamant Rico Lewis plays. He has and can play on the left. Apparently his development has improved greatly since leaving Barca. He has also had experience as a CB as that was what he started as.

He already has 2 goals and 5 assists.

€20m buyout clause allegedly. €10m goes to Barca as they let him go to Celta on a free in 2022. Celta are desperate to retain his services and RB Leipzig and Roma are interested in potentially buying him in January.

The issue is Barcelona may want to take him back. And on top of that we are looking for better replacements for Kyle Walker,

Barcelona may take him back to monopolise the chance to get more money from suitors. They don’t have a buyback clause but they hold 50% of the rights.

I thought Kyle Walker according to most on here was finished, a better replacement for someone finished is a low bar.
