Bellamy was quality for us. He fell out with Mancini and was history ever since. Always gave his best, scored goals and created them. He has no possibility of playing at City with Mancini at the helm. I back Mancini but wish Bellamy all the best.
Agree 100% - i know at times hi attitude off the pitch was questionable but he never gave less than his all when wearing a City shirt.... Good luck Bellers (But not against City)

High five twitcher

So we pay up his contract, he hasn't played for us in over 12 months ( not his fault, granted)
We pay him circa £5m, we then strengthen the red dippers for free and he then gets another signing on fee and big wages.

I know he played well for us, tried 100%, but this doesn't read right and certainly not right for us.

Let him have a free, bad egg if he stays around, but don't pay him off too!

Can't see any benefit at all in this, and unless the stories like this and about the Adebayor deal are countered by the club (I'm hoping they're not true) we're in real danger of being seen as a soft touch for future transfers.

I think this well fall on its arse now the poisoned runt wants a pay off http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/267273/Craig-Bellamy-seeks-Manchester-City-pay-off

WTF he gets his free transfer so he can move now he wants a pay off!!!!!! The club simply has to tell him to go f*ck himself if he wants another penny out of the club.

I for one would sooner see him sit out his contract and have him cleaning out the sh*thouses after home games.

That's my fear as well. We have set ourselves up as a charity rather than a business by the looks of it!

I'm all for giving Bellamy a free transfer... if that means the contract is cancelled. But if it means we're ALSO paying him off, that's madness.

Same for Adebayor. Loan him out by all means, but not if it costs us money. However, I am more confident that the Adebayor deal will see us paying none of Ade's wages. Or so it's been claimed.

I did say at the start of this transfer window that Bellamy was only ever going to go on a free, that talk of us getting £4m was fanciful.

I just hope the club haven't created an image where we "give away" all the players out of favour. At some point we have to make a stand and get some money in!

Its total nonsense by granting him a free it gives him the opportunity to sign for someone else and get a large signing on fee kerching!!! and then we pay him off as well kerching!!!!

Utter bollox, Barton has been given the exact same deal yet toon won't be paying him off.

If he wants a pay off, make him train with the under 18's. He'll soon change his mind.

again, can someone please explain to me why buying him out of his contract is a way of 'getting him off our books' if we are just giving him that same amount of money in one lump sum, only allowing him to join a rival in the process?

It is a shame Mancini doesn't like him because if Mancini wants more players but isn't being given the money to sign them, Bellamy is right there as an impact sub/secondary player, a role he'd probably accept at this point.
