I dont think Pep takes fools lightly and he has pissed Pep off on more than one occasion in his short tenor
I dont think he is defensively sound and before the masses come down on me saying he offers a threat going fwd and that what pep wants from his defenders, I also think Pep would like sound defending, which he falls short on.

So (imo) a defender who is poor defensively and has pissed Pep off more than once), I can see him being moved on

More than once? Genuine question mate as I've only heard about the late arrival for rehab on one occasion.

I can't understand how people can't see we're a stronger, more balanced side with Mendy in the lineup, despite his flaws.

Yes, he was defo rollocked for his social media usage, and I think also when he ran half the length of the pitch whist still in a plaster.

We are only stronger offensively with him (again imo) as I think he lacks defensive ability

Don't recall it that way at all, I recall Pep saying he'll have to rein it in a bit now that he's back playing but it didn't seem like there was a major issue.

I've had this debate with you before about our shape being better with an actual left back rather than a makeshift. We're stronger both offensively and defensively with an actual left back in the side, again despite his flaws.

I've had this debate with you before about our shape being better with an actual left back rather than a makeshift. We're stronger both offensively and defensively with an actual left back in the side, again despite his flaws.

If he was a solid defender, I would have no qualms with him, but he isn't - he is a big powerful unit who has a wicked cross, which is a huge asset, but when called upon to defend, I find him much less effective. Therefore only offers 50% of the task

His injury record will not be in his favour either

For me he's no worse than Delph or Zinch defensively, both of them are better in the build up than he is and perform that inverted role very well but defensively both are as suspect as he has shown. Where I believe he has an advantage over both defensively is his pace and his height, recovers better and is less likely to be caught under a cross the way Delph and Zinch are prone to be.

His injuries will definitely count against him but if he has a strong finish to the season then I can see him being retained, I do hope we sign another actual left back next summer regardless what happens with Mendy.
