Benjamin Mendy - 2018/19 Performances

Forget about his injuries, some of his performances have left scars on me. He doesn't seem right for us, not defensively. I'm not sure he's right for anyone defensively, but I can see him struggling particularly with the early intercept - high line defense. Mind you, I had Walker down as a blunderbuss, and he's worked out well. Plenty of opportunity left for him to turn it around.

His ability to pick players out with crosses is completely unmatched. I think people have forgotten while hes been injured but it's almost a joke the way he was putting the ball on a plate for Aguero and co 3 or 4 times a game. They were missing chances because they thought there was no way he could get it to them and somehow mendy would hit a cross at pace that would split 4 defenders in the box and be at their feet.

And I've never seen a left back take over games completely like he did for us against Watford and like he did for Monaco a few times, just steam rollering midfields, with full backs and CBs literally falling over themselves because they don't know which is supposed to deal with him because he starter a run out wide but is now at the penalty spot.

No fullback in the world can do anything even close to what Mendy does at his best.

Unfortunately we only get to see this on you tube. Need a new left back either way .
 
He’s like a lucky charm.
The teams he “plays” for always win trophies, but he hardly ever plays for them!
 
Next major injury will seal it as I am confident there is little doubt Pep will look to find a legitimate starting LB this summer - not a criticism of the player or labeling him anything but it is only normal that a competitive club & coach will plan accordingly when continuity has yet to deliver from their enormous investment. I hope he can stay healthy and develop even further but there's no question doubts will persist about whether he is 'injury prone' until he can remain healthy if not avert major injuries

Pep will want to sign not just a serviceable player there but a weapon

I bet there are plenty of players with World Cup winners medals who didn't even get on the pitch.
