I think the best word for his performance is mature. And that's wonderful.

I'm so happy he played well. I think he would have been the next on the chopping board as far as the mob is concerned. He gave the ball away to often but that's partially why I love him so much. He takes chances and creates big opportunities. Absolute unit too. Solid 8/10 for me.

Understandably rusty performance, but I'd like to see him play the next ten games (not Fulham in the League Cup) and show that he can play the marauding left-back role but also the traditional left-back role. In those games, we should be able to partner him with Laporte/Otamendi and have him work with a range of players playing ahead of him.
Bet he gets injured on international duty, :-(

Some of the comments in the match thread were ridiculous. He's been injured the last few weeks, clearly not match fit, clearly wasn't even up to full speed after his injury last season. But he did his job. Didn't go miles upfield all game, he sat back and did his defending. Some of his passing was sloppy but again he is lacking match sharpness.

He is a sloppy passer. He actually is more accurate with his cross than his pass. Which is a strange skill to have.

First game back from the cold/injury at a ground where we usually get a spanking,i'ts all about opinion,and i thought he did fine.....but eve if you dont,i think he deserves some leeway.
