When he wasn't playing his legend grew, now we are seeing him play regularly I'm afraid defender he is not. Although he actually managed to win a header today which is the exception rather than the norm. Like others Delph next Sunday for me.
Personally, I think Zinchenko is the best Leftback at the club... Unfortunately, Pep disagrees :(

His last couple of games have been a cause for concern , his crossing is superb , but his all round defensive game has been poor and he gives the ball away on the half way line so many times and our defence is under immediate pressure , would start Delph against the Rags and give Mendy more time to blend into the team after his long lay-off . No doubt he is potentially a great full back but he needs to work on his defending and distribution with Pep , he might get away playing like that in Ligue 1 , but he will be punished by the better teams in the premier league.

When you say best left back, do you mean best inverted full back? Because for my money an orthodox full back he is not.

Mendy is a luxury in much the same way Kolarov was.He should not be played against teams who put us on the back foot because he causes more harm than good with his lack of awareness and powderpuff challenges.

Delph would be my first choice, then Zinchenko against such opposition. For now, until the penny drops......Save Mendy for the teams we will steam roller.

Have to agree with this. These last two games has unearthed some real deficiencies

Find it hard to be concerned about him yet given he's played about 15 games for the club, with a huge, huge injury splitting those games right down the middle too. And given that in half of those games he was excellent too, clearly showing he has 'it'. He'll get there, it'll just take time to iron out the mistakes.

Stop being so balanced and rational, we want hyperbole and sensationalism.

That's fair comment and about the size of it,he definitely has the ability to be an automatic choice, but until he irons out those mistakes then Pep would be wise to choose his inclusion carefully.

I think it's fair to say I trust Pep on this one, more than anyone on here :)
