Spotted it early last season and as soon as he kicked a ball this season. This guy is not good enough.

If it’s alright to say it about players who’ve gone it’s alright to say it about Mendy. Just because he’s a bit funny on social media and was a boost from the sidelines last season, when injured, to squad morale and cost the club £50m we should not be giving him leeway.

He’s just one bloke in a squad of 25. No different from Kevin all the way down to Muric and the other fringe players and those who’ve been deemed not good enough in the past and sold/let go.

He’s not for me! I hope he doesn’t cost us bigger than just oppirntities at our goal which we’ve got away with so far!

How many actual goals has Mendy cost us this season?
I can’t think of any... yet!

But at Arsenal he gave the ball away in midfield which resulted in lacazette nearly scoring and he should have had a penalty given against him. Against Wolves he had his arms all over one of their players at a corner and twice got skinned resulting in one half chance and one chance for Wolves. At Spurs he was all over the bloody ship and yesterday he gave the ball away or wimped out of challenges on the half way line a number of times which resulted in attacks on our goal.

Javi Garcia, Mangala, Kolorov and before last season Sterling were given dogs abuse for far fewer and smaller mistakes.

A good side will punish us for one of his errors.

La Porte passed the ball back from around half way to an opponent in our half yesterday and set them off on a counter attack didn't he?

When you say best left back, do you mean best inverted full back? Because for my money an orthodox full back he is not.

I've had a rethink. I think Zee is the best footballer of the 3, bit Mendy is the most useful for the most number of teams.

So Mendy is probably the best Leftback on the squad.

Against most teams our dominance is so overwhelming that MendysM weakness ( possession football and positioning) can be hidden easily. However against the better squads ( granted, there are very few of these) Zee's possession skills probably translate better. And Felph is an unhappy medium between the 2.

I wouldn't go so far as to call Delph an unhappy medium but fair comment apart from that.

Lately, in possession, Mendy frequently takes up a very central position, high up the pitch - approximately where you'd expect a DM to play (or maybe a bit higher up). Since Mendy keeps taking up this position - it's happened in several games running when Mendy plays - I guess this is by design.

Anyone else notice this? Is this by design? If so, why is Pep playing Mendy this way?

At fault for the goal Newcastle scored but yes many are being too critical of Mendy.

I thought he was ok against Soton. Maybe a few errors but also had some great moments.

Even though many want Delph, I think Mendy will definitely start the derby and hopefully like vs Liverpool he’ll play well again.
