What would you rate him (Mendy obviously as its his performance thread - not Gundogans) out of 10 as a matter of interest ?
6.5/10 this season so far. Not great by any stretch, but he's been good for the most part. Not the high level we'd want for the the team going forward but given his injury issues coupled with some of his earlier performances makes me want to be patient.

He had a poor game yesterday, although I don't blame him for the goal conceded and he was better in the second half.

But it's not (nor almost ever) about saying a player was poor in a game. It's about people piling in to say a player was awful beyond belief and declaring them not good enough. So often the overreactions are everywhere. It's just so fickle.

He seems to be a player who relied on his physical attributes but has lost them since the injuries. Feel sorry for the lad but he needs replacing.

His passing was poor yesterday but his defending was OK. We can't really blame him for the goal, he tracked Kante well and there was a lot of bad luck in that goal There was also no reason for Ederson to leave his line.

Overall I still think he is our best option as a left back and I feel more comfortable having him there than the other two just because he can bully whoever comes his way with his physicality, we have enough lightweight players in the team and need to balance it out. There were those corner situations in the Everton game where Zinchenko was marking Yina and he looked like a child playing with an adult.

I am sure Pep will figure out what is wrong with his passing as he can't even complete simple passes, it may be panic from lack of games but he has more room for improvements than they other two. So until we have a better choice I think we should stick with him.

He didn't have enough game time to be judged yet.

I am going to judge him in 3 months. Is a big lad and I think needs to be at top fitness.

On Monaco was incredible and was a player I would have loved for us to sign. Crossing was top class and other attributes made him unique.

His first season before the injury with us looked like the best left back in the world and could have turned us into an even more unstoppable force than we have been as the signs were strong.

The ACL injury was a huge setback and bad enough for someone of his athletic ability to really change things. I predicted him being no where near the level we saw afterwards, but hoped he could be still quite good although had doubts.

Let's see more games , as he's not played much at all with any consistency that's needed to gain confidence and get acclimated. There's been so many more injuries so I can see us selling this summer if there's not enough improvement, but might be tricky anyway.

His ass was covered by Diniho for 95 mins. Defending was poor.

Not sure what play you are referring to but because of our style of play we commit bodies forward and the left backs are often behind in transition phases. It is expected for a CB or midfielder to cover for them. Remember when people were wrongly blaming Zinchenko for Laporte's injury while covering for him? Cancelo yesterday was playing even higher up.

That said there were situations where He lost his 1v1 and I did say it was an OK performance defensively. He did better than Emerson for example :)

Too early to judge his ceiling as a player now. He should stay fit for several months, then he might ot might not become the player we want to see. He played little over the last two years. Some players lose form after being 2 weeks out injured, let alone for many months. If he stays fit, he might improve and be very useful during the run in.
