Hasn't Pep been saying he won't be playing anytime soon/months out and talking about a replacement left back in the January window rather than the summer?...doesn't sound to promising the way he's talking but he does also say we'll know more when he's seen the specialist in Barcelona.

Only City could buy an injury prone left back to replace TWO left backs and then have to use an even more injury prone midfielder as his emergency cover. Delph will not let anyone down when he's on the pitch, but how long will he be on the pitch for? Already this isn't far off his longest spell of being fit for City, and it's only a handful of games! Please sign more cover in January. Get Michael Ball on a free again if we have to! Anyone!

Tal Ben, anyone? Stuart is a natural left full back, too!

If it's anything other than an ACL he'll be back by January given it's ligament damage. That's obviously what the fear is that the club expects.

No he said IF he is out for a while they could look in January.

Does appear that he'll be out for a very long time. Perhaps until the business end of the season, or in the worst case scenario, pre-season for 17/18. He compared the situation to Gundogan and said just like with Ilkay last season, he feels very sad. So that tells us it's bad. Pep says they planned to buy another left back next summer, but will now see what happens in January and that until then we have Delph, Danilo, Zinchenko and Fernandinho as LB options.

He's a muppet for making that challenge, but if that was enough to rupture his ACL then we've got another injury prone player in our hands you feel

From being told it's just a knock to possibly ACL, sad. Had great expectations from him this season.

Must be something in this - surely our doctors would have a very good inclination before sending him off to Barca :(.
They absolutely will have an inclination - that's why he's going to a knee specialist! And also why Pep said what he said in the post match press conference.

Not wishing to trawl through the whole thread , can someone please tell me if this story ( acl etc...) has any real substance or is it guesswork ?.

I dont understand why people think Peps comments about signing someone in January mean its a dead cert terrible injury, surely we were after a second left back in summer anyway? If not thats just piss poor planning going into a 60game season with one left back.

All about timing of the comment, why mention buying a left back in Jan otherwise. Im hoping for good news, but the fact Pep even mentioned it makes me fear the worst.
