But Mendy already debunked Castles' tweet. I think the one thing we can say with any certainty is that Duncan Castles was purely speculating. He knew what we knew, it's worse than first thought and he's going to Barcelona. From there he's just jumped to worst case scenario.

He said that nobody knows - which is true (there has been no official diagnosis). But if there is suspected ligament damage, the doctor would have performed the Lachman test, which doesn't require any equipment (you place your hands on the leg and test for excessive forward movement of the tibia compared to the upper leg). If the Lachman was negative, it would pretty much rule out a torn ACL, in which case it seems unlikely Pep would have said what he did.

Gutted. Good luck to the lad. Will still play a massive role around the club and long may it continue.

Surely a ruptured ACL is longer than 2 months out? Another rest of the season job?

Technically you don't have to have surgery - there are non-invasive treatments involving intense physical therapy. And apparently, there are Hall of Fame NFL players without an ACL in one knee. But it is very risky - the ACL provides stability to the knee, and you risk an even more serious injury like meniscus damage if you opt for no surgery. If you do have surgery, it is normally 3 months before you can start any sort of running and 6 months before high stress sports can even be considered.

ACL rupture recovery times depend on the individual. How well they look after themselves, doing their rehab every day etc...

He could be cycling and swimming in just a few weeks. Chances are it'll be around 6 months+.

Ffs typical city, why can we never have our first choice 11 out for more than a few weeks..
