Benjamin Mendy - City lose case and Mendy awarded £11m in back pay (p168)

I assume you have no other argument but to attack me then.

I’m just saying it as it is. If you want to earn a lot of money as a footballer then you play for a big club and get paid big. That attracts people who want to associate themselves with you, who wouldn’t normally if you were an ordinary joe. Some of these people do not have your best interests at heart, in fact see you as an opportunity.

To avoid getting trapped, you have to be careful, really careful. Mendy clearly wasn’t.

Add in to the mix the modern view of how celebrities are expected to behave. It’s just the way it is, you can have the big bucks, or the hedonistic lifestyle, but rarely both.
The bottom line is he was accused of rape, he was then cleared, don't you think he's paid for his lifestyle ? You just want blood, let it go ffs

I don't like praising Ferguson, but one thing he always wanted was for his players to be settled and married as soon as possible. I think he thought it to be a way of preventing players acting the dickhead. Obviously it's not 100% perfect, but there's some positives to that approach.

However, a negative we've seen at City is that wives seem to want to live somewhere warmer/nicer than Manchester..!

Wtf?? Where have I indicated anything about “wanting blood”? I feel sorry for him losing his career (or the best of it at least) but surely these players are getting told about other footballers getting caught out due to their behaviour or at least they can read about it themselves. If I’d spent £40M on a player to do a job I’d be expecting them to be aware of the risks. It’s called learning from experience.

I think the problem for Mendy is that City were probably looking for an excuse to sack him. City have said that he was always late for training and often worse for wear, which is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Too much of a party animal for Pep's liking, remember he got rid of Ronaldinho for the same thing. The rape allegations were the last straw.

Absolutely his private life as a footballer was a joke, but he got falsely accused of rape, no one deserves that.

I agree totally on false rape accusations. I know of someone who that happened to who actually spent time behind bars and even after being cleared still has consequences. It’s another horrible sign of the times.
