Benjamin Mendy - City lose case and Mendy awarded £11m in back pay (p168)

He was acquitted. He isn’t a nice guy. That’s clear. You can keep digging but it doesn’t look good on you. These cases went to court on the flimsiest of evidence. The CPS isn’t fit for purpose.

What are you on about "digging" FFS. I've said he's more than entitled to his freedom and that the justice system is fair.

To everyone who thinks this means he's some poor lad who's been done wrong, I'd simply ask one question - who killed Nicole Brown Simpson?

Statement from Mendy's lawyer:

"Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the members of the jury for focussing on the evidence in this trial, rather than on the rumour and innuendo that have followed this case from the outset.

"This is the second time that Mr Mendy has been tried and found not guilty by a jury. He is delighted that both juries reached the correct verdicts.

"It has been almost three years since the police started investigating this matter. Mr Mendy has tried to remain strong but the process has, inevitably had a serious impact on him.

"He thanks everyone who has supported him throughout this ordeal and now asks for privacy so he can begin rebuilding his life."

What about the English law premise of ‘innocent until proven guilty’?

Does this not apply after a court case is finished? If so he’s innocent and not just not guilty

I'm no lawyer but I think that's more of a turn of phrase than a literal legal concept, no?

If you stab me in the throat and get away with it, that doesn't make you innocent.
