All true but it depends what it says in his contract. The reason so few of these cases go to tribunals is that employment law usual works in the worker's favour. The complication will not be his wages though but his appearance money. Let's wait and see what happens.

Considering the bad publicity it may generate (is generating, thanks to him), I would assume City think they have and he’s trying it on. As mentioned before this will likely be down to different interpretations of the wording in his contract.

For example, if the contract says "if city win the premier league then you'll get paid £1 million". Would you be entitled to that payment and would you fight for it? Yes you bloody would. So it's all down to wordings in the contract and interpretation of those words. He has a case otherwise he wouldn't bother fighting for it, whether that case is strong enough no one knows.

Same, if a court says he’s entitled to the money, pay the man.

If not, he’s shit out of luck.

I am suggesting City will probably have to pay up his basic salary but the argument will be over things in the contract like bonuses etc etc. We have no idea what's in his contract so we can't predict the outcome at this point.
