Bernardo Silva contract situation

Great news. People here said in the summer transfer thread that it is better if he wants to leave even if for 50m euros than keep an unhappy player. fuck that, I guess we got lucky nobody came around with an offer for him maybe Barca tried some bullshit loan offer but nothing acceptable.

This is a 100m+ pound player if Grealish is as well.

great player, super engine, not injury prone, works hard off the ball, top notch technique.

I said at the time we had to look at De Gea's collapsed move to Madrid/Faxgate.

He was absolutely adamant he had to leave United to go and live in Spain with his girlfriend, it was 2 seasons in the making, his heart was set on it, no turning back. That was 7 years ago.

People change their minds, they find workarounds, opportunities pass. You've got to fight to keep hold of Bernardo as much as possible, and if he ends up signing a new deal the club couldn't have played it more perfectly, having been open and supportive to the idea when he wanted to leave.

Precisely. Some players are mercenaries whilst some like to feel valued and wanted. It seems City only look at players who fall into the latter category and buy into what the Club stands for. It works both ways and the Club clearly has the interests of players at heart. In Bernardo's case they played it exactly right, conversely as they did with Torres.

Particularly the circumstances and timing of Bernardo being unhappy (worldwide pandemic and lockdown), which was extreme, and temporary.

Looks happier than a monkey in a banana shop these days. Get it signed Bernie you beauty

Rodders is our heart beat simple as. He’s as important as YaYa was in our midfield.
Yaya was a match winner and could do everything. As good as Rodri is, imo, hi is nowhere near as important as Yaya was. Football is about winning and Yaya could single handedly win you football matches from midfield. Yaya could do what Rodri does, with his eyes closed

Yaya at the peak of his powers had the chance to do what Rodri is currently doing and he was replaced and sold to City. And they even let him try it with his eyes open too.

I recall posting very positively, and sadly, about him in the summer when speculation was rife about him leaving. I said I was sorry that, after he had a great spell with us, he didn't seem to have been trusted in a central midfield role for a long time, and I wished he'd have had more of a chance there - and that's whats happened this season. He's been superb - better than ever before. Just like Yaya Toure I think we should pay him some more - PAY HIM SOME MORE!!!

I get to watch him close up from fairly low down in 116, well at least in the first half.

The things he does are mesmerising. The touch, feints, close control, changes in direction, are a thing of beauty. All at speed and with close contact from defenders. The ball is glued to his feet and very rarely gives up possession. The guy is a genius and so amazingly humble with it. Wouldn't swap him for Messi in his prime. Not a chance.

Get it done Bernie, there's a good lad.

Yeh he could and needed to at that time. Rodri doesn’t need to win matches he links the play from our keeper to opposing 18 yard box. He also keeps the ball and finds a pass when it sometimes gets very tight. You are spot on about YaYa, he could play with his eyes closed. What a great time to be a blue after all the years we have had to put up with average players.
