It could be argued that we are weaker, but only if it is assumed that the departing players would continue to perform at the same level. Generally performances dip with age and we have perhaps in the past been slow to replace ageing stars. Refreshing whilst at the top is how you perpetuate success, hopefully. So whilst sad to see the departures, I’m with you, we are evolving, not weakening.Cancelo went in January for all intents and purposes.

The fact there is apparently a £50 mil releas clause in the contract kinda dampens my enthusiasm for this tbh. I reckon city knew they couldn’t afford to lose him this summer on top of the other outgoings so this is a compromise between all parties for one more year.
