Agree. Whilst it doesn't sound positive in terms of him staying and I know our stance on letting unhappy players go, we aren't going to sell one of our most influential players now and not replace. Would be completely weakening ourselves with no potential to recover to that level.

The problem with the swap is what would de Jong want in wages. He wouldn't want to reduce his salary at the current stage of his career. That would be the sticking point imo.
