Could be wages. We might not fancy putting another player on top-bracket wages. Clearly in the case of Haaland, we were willing to risk parachuting in a generational talent and make him a top-3 earner. I'm not sure FDJ quite justifies coming in as a top earner. Mere speculation on my part, mind.

Why does a straight swap doesn't make sense for us? Now that we know for a fact that De jong really gets paid ~220k a week? We get a younger player who's great in a lot of aspects and Barca get a player who they really want
