I agree yeah, would be very expensive. Whether it’s viable or not would probably depend on what we get for Bernado. But if 100m isn’t enough for West Ham to do a deal, then I don’t see why we’d be asking for any less on Bernado.Expensive, West Ham will want north of £100m definitely not worth that.

Neither player you mentioned is good enough for city and would be a massive downgrade on Bernardo which is why the club won’t move for them or anybody else until we find the perfect player which will likely be summer 2023.In terms of a player capable of replacing Bernardo’s quality I don’t think we will find one as I literally don’t think a player exists who can play his role in our team as well as him. Other than Bellingham who won’t move this summer I can’t even think of anybody who id even want to replace him if / when he decides to go. All I’m saying is that I’m almost certain the club will sign another midfielder if Bernardo leaves. As I said earlier, they literally briefed that this week.
Potentially the lad Pacqueta at Lyon or Nunes at Porto. Can’t say I know much about them but I’m sure City do and Pep was raving about Nunes when we played them saying he’s one of the best players in world football.

Thats because bernardo is an exceptional player and multi dimensional. He can hold the ball and recycle it in any area if the pitch. Rice is one dimensional, hes good at what he does but he is never a bernardo replacement. As a previous poster replied, phillips means no Rice.He’d be great for us, and I’d be disappointed if we didn’t try for him should Bernado leave.
The irony with all these people saying that Rice can only play defensive midfielder is that he’d be replacing Bernado. The same Bernado who has been transformed in his time here and now plays a completely different role to the one he was playing when we bought him.
