Expensive, West Ham will want north of £100m definitely not worth that.
 
He clearly wants to go and I don't begrudge him for that, but I'd like to think he's professional enough to understand we can't just let him leave at a cut rate because he wants it.

If Barca pays a fair fee (lol) and we get a replacement, then fine, thanks Bernie and wish you well. But none of this discount/player swap nonsense with no time to replace him.

In terms of a player capable of replacing Bernardo’s quality I don’t think we will find one as I literally don’t think a player exists who can play his role in our team as well as him. Other than Bellingham who won’t move this summer I can’t even think of anybody who id even want to replace him if / when he decides to go. All I’m saying is that I’m almost certain the club will sign another midfielder if Bernardo leaves. As I said earlier, they literally briefed that this week.

Potentially the lad Pacqueta at Lyon or Nunes at Porto. Can’t say I know much about them but I’m sure City do and Pep was raving about Nunes when we played them saying he’s one of the best players in world football.
 
Completely indifferent to this situation, and this Barca bullshit. Send him packing.
 
The issue is who is readily available and Grealish was probably brought in last season as potential replacement

Rice is a very good player but his main strengths are in areas we are covered - with Rodri and Philips. The outlay would be massively unnecessary and wouldn't fill a need.

To replace Bernardo, you'd want someone who can either play as a wing/forward and drop Foden/Jack back to 8, or want someone who is an 8...or someone who does both. I think Nunes or Paqueta are the best choices - Paqueta especially seems a bit magic

I agree yeah, would be very expensive. Whether it’s viable or not would probably depend on what we get for Bernado. But if 100m isn’t enough for West Ham to do a deal, then I don’t see why we’d be asking for any less on Bernado.

I suppose the thing with Rice though is his nationality and age.

Finding a replacement & agreeing a deal to land him are two different things as we found out with Cucurella.

It now turns out Gomez was on our radar all along, but for CFG probably going to Girona.

We've known about Bernardo's wish to leave for two seasons now, so I'd doubt very much that we haven't got a list of players earmarked to succeed him.

OR Grealish or Foden could be earmarked as his replacement, with a player like Felix earmarked as a new wide player replacing Sterling.

We won't get like for like with Bernardo, BUT we'll never get like for like with David Silva or Yaya, but we still evolved without them & improved... )(

Neither player you mentioned is good enough for city and would be a massive downgrade on Bernardo which is why the club won’t move for them or anybody else until we find the perfect player which will likely be summer 2023.

Paqueta and Nunes. both clubs even went into the window thinking both were leaving. Both have always been available you just have to pay the price. That’s all, Lyon are also known in France for doing late deals.

Thats because bernardo is an exceptional player and multi dimensional. He can hold the ball and recycle it in any area if the pitch. Rice is one dimensional, hes good at what he does but he is never a bernardo replacement. As a previous poster replied, phillips means no Rice.
 
I don’t get the drama, he is not KDB level, Ilkay fucking bossed it, him, Kevin, Rodri, Ruben, these are dramas if they leave. Ederson, that’s a drama if he leaves. I can name 5 midfielders at 70 million that can maybe change how we play, better it, improve us. I’ve said for two weeks now. Bench him, get the replacement in. Then sell when the fuckers pay. End of. 10 years ago, Kimmich was a snotty fucker playing second fiddle. Where is he after Pep!?!? Why oh why are we crying and rambling on about him. Anyone we bring in will be good, and it will work. Send him to Laporta so they can suck their super league aspirations off.

Possible but they are probably not high on our list of replacements.
