Bernardo Silva

Not really. We don't need to sell, & the player says he won't kick up a fuss if the transfer doesn't happen.

We apparently leaked our £85m valuation. Barça have leaked their £55m offer. As it stands no official offer has been received, so we've had no official offers to decline.

As for Barça being the only gig in town? If Bernardo's made his future wishes clear, why would any other club make or leak an offer if Bernardo's management tell all & sundry it's Barça or remain at City?

The other thing pointed out last week was if Bernardo was Barça's No1 target, why've they spent £160m on other targets & left Silva so late in the window?

Again, this seems to come down to moving FDJ on to lose his huge wage & to fund Bernardo's transfer. This is why most believe FDJ & Bernardo's transfers are inextricably linked.

The other issue is Bernardo's replacement. I doubt we'd want to go through the season with £85m burning a hole in our pocket, but a Bernardo sized hole in our squad.

I doubt we've not made contingency plans for Bernardo moving on, but if these transfers do happen late in the window, whose to say the club who have the player we've earmarked as a Bernardo replacement will have time to find their replacement?

It's obvious Bernardo wants to leave & to be honest I want him gone so we can end all the speculation, settle down & move on with our season without further distractions.

If I was a betting man, at this late stage I'd say Bernardo is more likely to stay than leave & will get his move next summer for a similar fee to the speculated £85m we want this transfer window...

Absolutely - in the rest of my post, I did make the point about our strength over the deal with Brighton being the fact we don’t need to sell, so we’re not disagreeing with each other in any way!

A possible deal would have been in place months ago, Bernardo has wanted out for some time, so I am sure Txiki has a player lined up IF needed.
And the circumstances can still change even if we had previously a player lined up. Cucurella being a recent example.

I suspect that player could be Nunes, Pep obviously rates the player. Hopefully, Bernardo stays though.
100% he's one who is gettable for reasonable money and has obviously been admired by City. I can't think of anyone else we could get at this stage for reasonable money that we've scouted

There have been recent rumours that he won’t entertain other offers because he has been told he will replace Bernie, either this summer or next

Look at the shit that goes on on transfer deadline day?
The next 2 weeks will be crazy with deals, a lot of clubs need to clear players out and a lot will be desperate to bring in.

Going to be interesting and maybe a surprise or two may come about.

Which journalists 'aligned' with our club claimed Kane would be done or claimed a price it would be done for? Same with Cucurella.

Putting aside ITK claims, general opinions and pure guesswork, what actual club related pieces were there? What did Txiki, Pep or any of our players say about Kane or Cucurella. Even when there was speculation, it came from the players' entourage or via agent links.

Barcelona have had daily stories, from regular mouthpieces, Laporta on quite a few occasions, etc.

The things that make them similar, are broadly similar with almost every transfer.

Gaughan and Lee both reported that City had made a bid of £100m, City were willing to go to £127m feeling that a deal could be made despite Levy wanting at least £150m - with the caveat that he didn't want to to sell Kane to anyone but a foreign team. There were some reports that we bid £125m and a report we had a £160m bid accepted. There were also, credibly sourced (journos and ITKs here), reports that Kane had been told he could leave Spurs for City.

Pep later stated we hadn't made any bid as Levy wouldn't negotiate at all (August 21) - before then saying we tried 4 times to sign Kane (February 22).

Conversely, it was reported by some Spurs journalists that the only actual bid was £75m + players and others that no bid at all was made, with Levy refusing to speak to City about it.

The similarity is the massive disparity in what is being reported on both sides. If you don't agree and would rather focus on the differences, fine with me pal, like I said, it reminds me of it.
