Lots of stuff going on professionally and personally, long COVID, fuck all energy. Bit of time off lately though.
2 years I’ve had long covid… had enough now. Ended up with a heart condition and needed a small op, then last season missed most of the games as just couldn’t get out the house the fatigue was so bad. Currently lay on my bed with COVID again (thanks kids) and a lung infection I’m fighting at the same time. If you need to chat to someone who understands pm me, my wife doesn’t get it so I know what it’s like.

Sorry to hear that on both fronts, and although I quite clearly haven’t suffered to the extent you have, I’ve never been able to claw back my energy levels after catching it 2 years on; many tell me it’s my age and hitting 40 but not having that, some days I can’t motivate a bone in my body…

Anyway, and I know you’re probably sick to the back teeth of hearing it but here’s hoping some normality kicks back in for those it impacts like this!

If Bernardo leaves, who are we supposed to replace him with?

I had a quick look and there are zero attainable top-class midfielders outside of De Jong and it doesn't look like we are interested in him or that he has any intention to leave Barca.

Paqueta or Nunes would be interesting

I’m 44 and totally get what you’re saying, I’ve a 4 year old and 1 year old and I want to bounce around with them but some days can’t find the energy to bloody make a brew let alone run around. It’s hard on them but I’ll keep going and we’ll get through it.
One of my worst things other than the fatigue is pains in my chest, they think it’s nerve damage but as it’s around my heart and having had the issues it gives you pause for thought.
Those bloody Chinese owe me free food for life I think ;) thanks for the well wishes though, appreciated.
To everyone else, sorry to spam the thread.

Good luck blue… definitely not spamming anything. I hope things turn around for you and keep your chin up.

ESPN is reporting that he's happy to stay and will give his all to the club. Then he goes on to say that nothing is for sure for the rest of this window. To me it sounds like he's staying because there is no way the club wants to sell him. City had replacements for Jesus and Sterling, there isn't a player on Earth that could step in for Bernardo and replace his production this season. If he wants to go next year they should bring somebody in now to acclimate him and learn from the bench.

My prediction he will go next summer and as for learning from the bench my guess his replacement is currently learning from the first team. Foden.

They just signed Lewandowski and in recent years have picked up Alves, Aubameyang and now Alonso. Some cheek going on about past his peak at 29...

Even at his age, David Silva could hold his own with his shoelaces tied together in that league. I'm sure Bernardo has a few years left in those old legs even if he didn't quite, as we'd hoped, turn out to be as good as El Mago.

TBF, that’s a really high bar.

Well, hopefully, you are feeling a lot better, that long covid seems a bit of a twat, I thought I had finally caught it the other week, all the new symptoms, sore throat, cough, phlegm dry cough after, tired, aching muscles etc, passed 4 covid tests lol

Agreed… from his comments, he clearly wants out, but he’s also professional enough to get his head down again, if he doesn’t get a move. It’s a positive that it’s seemingly only Barca in for him, and they are a shambles, so every chance it doesn’t get done and he’s here another year. The whole saga thou, has darkened my view on Bernardo! To want to leave us and join that shower is a shitshow! I’m prepared for him to leave, but hopeful he’ll stay another year because of Barca’s predicament.

We can’t take it personally, it seems to be mostly motivated by lifestyle, and as Pep says; a players career is only short.

Last year, he was one of, if not the 1st name on the team sheet… but not for me anymore. We should be preparing for him to leave, even if he stays another year. I’m happy with what we went with against West Ham. I reckon Grealish steps up this season and Foden on the right looked good. KDB and Godri running the show in the middle and the Viking scoring for fun… there will be life after Bernardo.

When any player leaves or agitates to leave, you’ll inevitably take it personally (especially if it’s to the circus that is current Barca)… I get what you’re saying thou and I know the club will work with Bernardo for the best solution. It’s just hard to take.

From a rational point of view you do think why on earth would someone choose them over us, I guess growing up in Spain/Portugal you would have a different view of Barca though.

Hope he says but it's not just City Bernardo has a relationship with, there's a woman he loves who he'd like to raise children with and they'd both rather do that closer to their two families at home. They'll be disappointed if he stays in Manchester another year but he's said he will still give his best to the club and no one can ask more of the lad than that.

I think many people would love the chance to live in Barcelona due to the weather and culture. It’s a spectacular city to visit so I get why so many players want to go there even if the football team (and the political BS that goes with it) are not where they used to be.

For me it's a lingering shortness of breath and fatigue.
