Bert Trautmann - R.I.P

Gutted read his book a few years ago what a guy it showed him to be a massive legend in Manchester will be very fondly remembered by all at City and all over the world.

Sad, sad news. My Dad who saw Bert play, said he was the best goalkeeper that he's ever seen, City or otherwise. RIP Bert.

A portrait of him, when he was awarded the "Walther Bensemann-Award" for fairplay and a better understanding among nations in 2008 in the Kicker magazine

The german newspaper "Welt" including the news, that City fans on the internet want a stand to be named after him

Unmittelbar, nachdem sein Tod am Freitag bekannt geworden war, forderten erste ManCity-Fans im Internet, dass die Südtribüne im City of Manchester Stadium nach Bert Trautmann benennt werden soll.

(Shortly after his death was announced on Friday, City Fans on the internet wished that the south stand should be named after him.)

Time to do what should have been done a while ago and name a stand after him.

R.I.P a true Blue legend.

RIP
Bert a true gentleman you will be sadly missed
From a era when you played for the shirt and not the money
Had the great honour of briefly chatting to him a Maine rd and
Made me feel like the most important person he had chatted to
No doubt he wouldn't remember me,but that very brief chat I will
Remember and cherish for the rest of my life
Bye Bert

Sad news,my grandad said he was the best goalie he ever saw and unusually for my grandad he couldn't fault him.
His life story, even without the broken neck in the cup final is fascinating and I'm sure the club will do the right thing by a true legend of our club.
R.I.P. Bert.
