I was there today and tbh the attendance was really poor. I've seen a far better crowd at reserve games. However, at least many people did turn up and it was a good game:-)

Thanks to everyone involved, hopefully a good amount will have been raised.

Just out of interest How many did you think would be there ?

a couple of thousand, it is a good cause, just down the road, and you raise a bit of money for charity? thought there would be more than 200. city not playing, nice day, Bert Trautman is a legend. And the guys at St Helens put so much work into this not just for charity reasons but for historic reasons and fair play to them. We had a good time anyhow, Breakfast at spoons, then the match, then a pub crawl into town, mitchell arms, waldorf, brunswick, not cheap those last two. In the mitchell arms bloke started singing, when the Blues go marchin in, quality!

The attendance was disappointing, but it was a first class afternoon. Above all, well done to Saints for all the effort put in and for a superb match programme which every City fan over 40 should own. If you haven't got one, get one (via the St Helens' website)! Also, well done City for all their co-operation(once again, Danny Wilson came up trumps)

In the programme, it is suggested that Bert will come over for the Coms Derby in April and that may well be the last time (at 86 years old) he does anything official at City due to health issues. That will surely be the time to name the South Stand, 'The Bert Trautmann Stand' and then why not acknowlege our other great goalkeeping legend by naming the opposite stand. 'The Frank Swift Stand' with the sub-text 'Died Munich 1958'. That would be a wonderful gesture that Bert would undoubtedly applaud, but also, only a moron would then come out with 'Munich songs and references, if that was staring them in the face...just a thought!

Once again, well done St Helens Town for such an enjoyable afternoon!

P.S. Also well done to John Gwynne for top-notch humourous MC-ing!
