Bert Trautmann Trophy

Can you buy tickets on the day?

Absolutely, the COMS ticket office will be open on the morning of the game as usual.

I also notice that the MCFC Official Site has re-run the 'City Legends turn out for Bert' story - excellent stuff!! (the news item was published a couple of weeks ago but with news turn-over being sigificant it only really lasted 24 hours before dropping off the radar)

John McKiernan

Bert's on BBC Radio Merseyside tonight around 8.15pm being interview by football show host Alan Jackson!

Out of interest, how is his name supposed to be pronounced?

I've always pronounced it like 'trout-man' but I've heard it said like 'Trort-man'. What is the correct way?

Interesting question and not one I'd previously thought about - My recollection is that many people pronounce it as 'trout-man' but having spoken with Bert on a number of occasions recently it does appear to be more like the 'Trort-man' version (when he answers the telephone).

Bert may say "Trortman" to Anglicise himself. Years of living in St. Helens has these strange effects on people's accent.

The correct German pronunciation is "Troutman". German is not like English and, once you know the language, there are no deviations from the norm in how words are pronounced.

The BBC have been in touch this morning with Derek Partridge and have confirmed they will be in attendance on Sunday - to interview players, officials, etc.

City officials have also confirmed that a 'signed' shirt has been donated by the club which will be raffled on the day of the game!! Excellent news!!

Thanks.

I'll continue to call him Trout-man.

Correct "au" in German is "ow" in English.

Anybody know whether Moonchester will be making an appearance ? My daughter wants` to see him but I don't really want to take to a proper match yet, I swear too much and get drunk.
