After several years of not playing scrabble, i'm really into it at the moment.
Just thrashed the missus, and despite her getting a word worth 68, i still managed to beat her. Shes just gone to bed sulking after being beat yet again! The current score is 8-1 to me. Scrabble really gets the brain in gear, especially when you utilise the tripple letters and double and tripple word squares.

What's your fave board game?

If you're spelling tripple like that it's not a surprise to see you winning.

I thought the same thing

;-)

Great game scrabble. We have theme games with bonus points for on topic words. Last topic was fish. Game lasted 4 hours with 4 of us playing and the winning word was fins. Happy days.

Bloody hell - life must be an absolute riot round at yours.
I could only aspire to such wreckless behaviour.
Four hour fish-themed Scrabble games.
You crazy,zany funsters.

Chess has to be the undisputed champ of all board games for me. Strategy, tactics, patience, foresight. It's about as close to an actual battle as your gonna get on a board.

Monopoly gets my second spot. Since I was a little'n I've played that game, and my family's idea of a good time, after meeting up at my mums for Sunday dinner, is to have a few drinks and play Monopoly. Property for money, property for immunity, dodgy wording of deals involving future installments, hahaha, great family fun I tell ya.

Scrabble gets an honourable mention just for the sheer 'getting the vocab cogs turning.' Good, quiet game but can get boring

You clearly haven't tried fish-themed Scrabble.
It can keep you captivated for four fucking hours.
It is the future.

I'll be putting forward that suggestion, actually, next time we have a game. Specialized themes sound like fun :P

What's your favorites, mate? Or are you too cool for non-computerized games?

I often play Scrabble with the theme "Lichen", where the words all have to be forms of lichen. I always win, because I play it on my own.

I'm not cool mate - I can barely log on,and wouldn't know a computer game if it bit me on the bell end.
I used to love chess with a passion, but it just became obsessive, and I would sulk for days when I lost.
Mad,I know,but that's how it was.
Now I just stick to the odd game of Monopoly, which I always lose,as a good Socialist should.
I can,however, see myself getting hooked,(see what I did there?),by four hour fish-themed Scrabble.

EDIT - I have just seen GSC's post, and am currently frantically revising all known types of lichen, prior to a Four Hour Lichen-Themed Scrabble evening.
We'll see who the fucking daddy is...

Don't make the same schoolboy error as me and mistake certain mosses for lichen!
