strange stuff indeed

The thing is with foreign language films is that they can't rely on a big Hollywood special effects and A lister budgets. So they rely on things such as a great story and great acting.

I've mentioned films previously on this thread, but apart from the "mainstreams" of French, Spanish and Italian cinema there's others that come to mind

Funny games (original German version)
Hunts tag
Nightshift (Danish original)
The green butchers (?) another Danish one

A film I can't remember the title of but think it was Hungarian about a bunch of underground (tube) workers trying to catch a serial killer.

Let the right one in, Swedish vampire film.

Another couple can't remember titles but Russian films about the battle between light and dark.

Through family a few Persian films
??? Tallah, crimson gold, about an armed robbery in a Tehran jewellers

Another film about girls trying to get to see a football match (Iran vs japan) in Tehran and having to dress as boys to get in

A separation , again about divorce/separation in a Persian household.

World cinema fascinates me, all further suggestions welcome.

And if not mentioned in previous posts.

Das Boot, greatest war film ever. Hire it out or download it. Kick the missus out for the night, load up on Veltins or your German beer of choice, grab some bratwurst from Aldi and sit your sled down for 3-4hrs and watch it. Amazing.
