Best goal ever seen......

I reckon it will not make the short-list. They will dredge up a few miss-kicks from Mo Salah and Bruno Fernandes to fill the quota.
Don't forget Ronaldo's penalty tonight -
It’s voted for on social media.

That’s why it won’t be.
If it's down to a public vote then Ronaldo's first tonight will probably win Goal of the Month, with his penalty coming a narrow second. Or vice versa.

I've been watching the Blues for 40 odd years and to me the James Millsopp Melrose's swivel and volley is the best goal not only by a City player but the best goal ever scored in the English professional game... And the sad thing is it was never captured on camera.

Just rewatching Bernardo's goal again - it really is perfect. Best view is from a high camera from behind Villa's goal. You can see the way Villa are sucked in, they think they have a chance of regaining the ball from Mahrez and Cancello and so they are looking forward and ignoring Bernardo who already knows there is a chance emerging.

As the Villa cross comes over, Bernardo and McGinn are together, close to Sterling who is still on the floor after being fouled (great advantage played by ref! :-) ) Jesus is in the middle on the edge of the centre circle covered by two centre backs. As the ball comes to Mahrez, McGinn starts to edge forward, perhaps hoping something will break for him on the edge of the box. Bernardo, slips behind him. As the ball is flicked through the gap towards Fernadinho. Mings makes the mistake of moving forward to intercept, but that puts Jesus behind him - Jesus and Bernardo are now into full sprint, Bernardo taking time to check he is staying onside - Konta knows where Bernardo is and is signalling that he needs some help - Fernandinho's pass leaves Mings stranded and Konta has to cover - it's at this moment that McGinn realises that Bernardo has a 30 metre head start on him - he busts a gut to get back, but there is no chance, not unless Bernardo decides to being the ball down before shooting or the cross is wayward - but of course the pass is perfect and that gives Bernardo the chance to hit the most wonderful volley you will ever see. Lovely, lovely stuff.

I haven't stopped watching it. Honestly, the technique to hit that ball bang on perfect, as he did, is paranormal.

YaYa v plzen doesn’t get mentioned much but I was sat right behind it and he set it out well wide and curled into top corner

peach

If we are talking about seeing a goal when you were there I guess it must be this Rodney Marsh goal.
Sat in the main stand as a 12yr old. I can remember thinking wow !!

I might have seen better ones but this has stuck with all my life. The day before I had got his autograph !

Yes - similar age - I was high on the Platt Lane - standing on my seat and hanging on to the railing to get a view. It was the first time I'd seen Maine Road full and rocking and I can still see Mash cutting in, leaving defenders in his wake before curling it in. Such a shame that it wasn't enough and we were left with lots of what might have beens.

Like a lot of blues, I’ve been lucky enough to be present at some fantastic goals over the years. Vinny, Yaya, Sergio, Melrose, Brightwell, Francis, Jensen etc.

I’ll always remember Kinky’s goal and the atmosphere immediately after as the crowd started to appreciate the absolutely magnificent moment we’d just witnessed.
