Better street lighting and plain-clothes police in pubs - Johnson’s plan to protect women

They can start by hiring more police for local beats. The police force in this country has become completely reactive because they don't have the numbers. I can only speak for round here, but having regular police patrols would make a massive difference. Basic common sense, but dickhead has decided undercover dibble in the clubs is the answer.
Tbh I think they'd do more good in marked cars outside the clubs. Agree with you on the cuts - a copper I know seems to spend his life arresting what are mostly mentally ill or addicts for domestics. Probably as a result of cuts elsewhere too.

Exactly. The police are having to deal with stuff that should be under social services, but because their budgets have been cut too etc etc. As for the clubs, I'm 45 now, so i rarely go clubbing, but problems have rarely been in the clubs. It's women walking home leathered from the club getting preyed on by cunts. The area around Sankeys used to be a nightmare before all the regeneration.

*and to be crystal clear, women being leathered is not my issue. they've every right to go out and have a good laugh and not be attacked by some **** who spots easy prey. again, having more police on the beat, and out and about in cars, would make a huge difference. That would mean money for local police forces though, not likely.

Yep, fewer police covering larger areas has been the trend for years. Most of the violence I've seen as a youngster was outside clubs or around takeaways / taxi ranks late on. Young sperm heads full of hormones and ale. I've probably seen more women scrapping with each other than men attacking females, but I suppose the sexual violence down a dark alley is less likely to be seen by anyone except the weirdos and their victims.

Also where I live if you are having a heart attack the first responder will be a volunteer Fireman/woman in a fire engine - along with their 4 other buddies and a defibrillator - they then send for a paramedic who may well then send for an Ambulance...... somehow thats a saving and VFM?

We shouldn't be surprised when some police officers turn out to be predators, nonces or physically abusive. Obviously they are subject to background checks and and enhanced DBS but it will only reveal stuff if they have been caught and been sloppy about revealing their abusive behaviour in public realm.

There are similar reasons why the police, like childcare or the priesthood might attract undesirable filth who are more interested in abusing their privileged position of responsibility to gain access to and power over vulnerable children or adults.

There is a long history of predators and sex offenders in positions of trust - often once one gets in others are given jobs there is a history of it - the church, the Scout Movement. teaching, look at Bennell in football ffs so the idea that somehow the Police force is above it all?

Spot on. You could make a similar point about corruption and the police. There is a well established positive correlation between corrupt law enforcement and prevalence of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
