Better street lighting and plain-clothes police in pubs - Johnson’s plan to protect women

Where are these plain clothes coppers coming from?
I've still a lot of mates in job & you'd be absolutely shocked of how many there really are out on the street.
Your average Tesco will have triple the amount of staff on duty at any point.
Since May completely ruined the emergency services they now cover ever increasing areas & populations. All of who have a mobile phone.
The amount of jobs that I used to have to go to each day, that were actually a police matter, we're at a guess, about 15-20%.
Grown ups arguing about who said what on Facebook or Instagram, mention one key word (and these people know what words to say to the call handler because they are asked whether they think it's relevant at the time) & you can guarantee a copper will be there to speak to you.
In the meantime, Billy Shitbag is prowling the estate in full knowledge he's very unlikely to run into a copper.

This plan will not happen, if it does it will be run on overtime as there are no "extra officers" that you hear about when disgusting incidents like the one that happened to put poor Sarah.
They're taken off other duties. Investing your burglary, taking statements from somebody who's just been assaulted & enforcing more ASB goes into the back burner once again.
The overtime will soon run out so it will be run from other duties. The circle then carries on.

We could put a cop on every street corner and have huge street lights but if you have an irrational fear it will do no good.
If you think you are going to be killed but we worry about being assaulted and raped as well , you dont seem to appreciate that . Streets lights on and police on the beat would hugely help us feel safer

Stranger rapes in this country are incredibly rare.

Typical Johnson, cobbling together a few cheap "fixes" which won't have any impact so he can answer questions in the house.

Fucking streetlights, Jesus wept.
That was my first thought, cheapest way given he has to be seen to be doing something, new light bulbs, CCTV staffed by minimum wage workers and minimum staffing levels working long hours, probably claim it as creating jobs for people.

I can’t help thinking that more uniformed officers on the streets would be far more effective and provide a visible deterrent to potential ‘predatory’ offenders.

What does everybody else think?

Misses the point entirely with his "answers". CCTV - you REVIEW CCTV post offence so a victim is already there. I believe we have more CCTV per head of population than any other country - hasn't stopped crime.
Cop's in pubs and bars? Had Sarah been been in a pub that night?
More street lighting. She was walking up a well lit street where she thought she would be safe. So well lit a ring doorbell captured a clear image of her.
This is a shit knee jerk reaction from a shit government

Some have said on here that the police are under paid. True, but have u seen some of the videos being circulated on the Internet on how the public treat the police? Its a joke. They need to be respected more.

The sort of views Johnson can live with - no more pay just greater respect - you should apply for a cabinet post !
