Big Mal and Mercer Banner

Hi blues,

Just another update to keep you all posted, Ric replied to my message and had some fair points to make such as because of the size of the banner who will be responsible for it (taking it to and from the ground) he also said when he gets a minute of his time he will contact the club and discuss if they would be willing to help out (which I'm pretty much sure they will do)

As soon as I get any sort of feed back I will let you all know.

Thank you all very much
Ashley

CFL.. I hope you don't mind but I have asked Barmy Flags for a price on the following two images on a City blue background. I don't know if these are the dimensions you have in mind but I just thought I would get an idea of a price. I have also asked in theory could they get it made by Sunday and I am awaiting a reply. If so, I am sure you could get the money together for one of them by then. Again, hope I am not trodding on your toes, but it would be good if they could get get it made in time for the Allison tribute before Arsenal.

5ft x 5ft fully sewn and delivered price - £205

5ft x 7ft fully sewn and delivered - price £205

Alright mate, some good ideas for flags there you've probably picked the 2 best pictures anyone could find, very difficult to choose from one shows the success in which they both brought to the club and the other shows their great relationship as well.

A flag was my original choice but if a large crowed banner can get the go ahead I believe this would be the best choice simply as more city fans can get involved in helping out but as things stand a banner is not 100% certain yet until I hear further news from Ric then we will be talking about donations and the art work and making of the banner which I have had many generous replies from blues through PM so its safe to say the art work and making of the banner are pretty much sorted all we need is a decent donation setup.

Not that your idea is bad you've pretty much got 90% of it done so your ahead of me its just I'm thinking long term something we can show the whole stadium to see week in week out but also trying to get it all done by Sunday (I know I'm a realist aren't I) but if we can't get this banner done by Sunday your option will defiantly be our back-up as we need something for Sunday and I will defiantly be willing to contribute as much as you need for the flag.
Also pal where do you sit at CoMS?

Happy days, it sounds like you're quite far down the line with it. The club won't say no to something like this so I would go ahead and start the collecting asap. The sooner you start, the greater the chances you have of getting it done for Sunday. If it comes off I am convinced it will be brilliant. I sit in 301, sadly it's quite far away from the action (the atmosphere).

Also, for a while I have had the idea of getting some people together to start a site to attract contributions for various flags and banners for the stadium - recreating classic flags and some new ones. The designs would be put to a vote etc by those who contributed. Do you think that something like that could work? I am pretty convinced that it could make CoM a better stadium and contribute to a better atmosphere for home matches.

Your user name has given me an idea:

A picture of the two of them in their pomp with the phrase "There is a light that never goes out"

I have had that in the back of my mind for a City banner for a while now, but you're right it would be quality for the purpose of a Mercer and Allison flag - it says you will not be forgotten.

Remember when City won the league in '68' Big Mal predicted that City would terrorise Europe. And people refer to him as coach years ahead of the game. Maybe that foresight will be proven right in the next few years accross Europe

Alright Blues,

Little update, Ric has had permission from the club for a banner.

Now you all have been very patient and I thank you all, but now the second stage is done (banner ideas) thanks to nijinsky and his top notch banner creating you can view all his ideas on http://www.theboysinblue.co.uk/images/b ... ght_68.jpg.

Ric will be getting the go ahead from the club very soon hopefully and we can then get a collection going for a new banner hopefully for the Arsenal game.

Once again thank you for your patience blues and lets make Sunday a day Malcolm and Joe would be really proud of.

Upwards and Onwards
Ashley
