MOT passed yesterday with no issues or warnings, so it’s as healthy as it ever will be.It's a lovely motor mate.
Wonder if these cameras will cover ULEZ too…

Many of the newer cars even read the speed signs and you can get it to set the speed limiter. Works really well. And if you can’t, most cars have cruise control these days and a sat nav telling you where the speed cameras are.
So ultimately, it‘s drivers not concentrating that get done by speed cameras. Many of the newer cars even read the speed signs and you can get it to set the speed limiter. Works really well.
You're correct. Got a brand new merc while mine was in for service, and it practically drove itself. Warned me at every speed limit change, whined like an ex missus if I was 1mph over the limit. Many of the newer cars even read the speed signs and you can get it to set the speed limiter. Absolutely, but you try concentrating when you've had a few pints. It's not that easy ;-)So ultimately, it‘s drivers not concentrating that get done by speed cameras.
I find that washing them down with a six pack of redbull really helps you concentrate.Absolutely, but you try concentrating when you've had a few pints. It's not that easy ;-)
You provide a 'safe' place and people stop on it to check maps, let their kids piss etc etc. Rarely do you need to stop right there and then on the motorway and, if you do, the speed limits and warnings come on automatically until an operator can confirm the details and set appropriate signals or cancel it.Surely a hard shoulder is better than 4 active lanes called "smart"
?
A hard shoulder was generally regarded as a safe haven (rag managers exepted obviously)
Now, your at the mercy of the smart operators, and it's fucking scary.
How long it takes to put the red X up will determine how safe you are.You provide a 'safe' place and people stop on it to check maps, let their kids piss etc etc. Rarely do you need to stop right there and then on the motorway and, if you do, the speed limits and warnings come on automatically until an operator can confirm the details and set appropriate signals or cancel it.
That is reliant on people doing the displayed speed, which is back to the original posts in here and not driving under red-x, which the cameras will also pick you up doing
None of that relates to my experience of driving on motorways for 40 years, but I'll take your points. You provide a 'safe' place and people stop on it to check maps, let their kids piss etc etc. Rarely do you need to stop right there and then on the motorway and, if you do, the speed limits and warnings come on automatically until an operator can confirm the details and set appropriate signals or cancel it.

This. The lack of hard shoulder is their biggest issue. Nowhere safe to break down.
