Born and bred in Moss Side and went to St Edwards primary school at the back of the kippax. My parents are still there and have never been mugged, never had their car broken into, never been burgled and never had any grief. If you aren't involved in drugs or gangs you won't have a problem. When I grew up in Moss Side it was mostly Irish and West Indian families. They lived, worked and socialised together as most of the pubs and rented accommodation back in the 50's and 60's stated No Blacks or Irish. Thats why we all ended up in the same areas, cos no other fucker would have us. I'm glad I'm from Moss Side as I always had the glorious sight of Maine Rd from my bedroom window.

Oh and harpurhey is the pits. My first day at work there and came out to my car and found every window smashed only to steal my babies car seat. Didn't ever go back to that job.

Theres a lot of ''bad'' areas in Manchester i wouldn't be able to say which is the worst without spending a decent amount of time in them all

lol i park on asda car park everyday and get picked up i work for manchester working. I hate these areas with a passion now mate. i was born in gorton was a fucking nice place untill little scroats ruined it Craig rd and forber cresent.

Fair enough mate i wasn't having a go at you before just saying that not everyone from those area's is a scruff but yes i avoid Harpurhey market and Asda as often as possible.

I was born in Blackley, has some nice parts and some bad parts and Failsworth is a decent enough area so can't really complain

I used to work for the Council all across the City and I was always most uncomfortable on the South. Longsight, Leve, Withington, Chorlton, all shitholes. Had me van screwed god knows how many times in Hulme and was appraoched by all sorts of tramps in Wythenshawe. Moss side, community spirit? Well they all keep quiet when Old Bill comes knocking I'll give them that.

North Manc isn't exactly posh but don't make out like theres this big cultural divide because there isn't.

I worked for Direct works in 80's i only remember Hulme and moss side being "multi man" where you couldn't go alone.
I'm a North Manc and just always felt safer once i got north of Piccadilly

I have lived in Harpurhey though and it was ok tho that was about 12yrs ago.
I know it's not strictly M/cr but Ordsall and Seedley in Salford were very dodgy back in 80's

Also just because it looks respectable it doesn`t mean the people are top they might be a shower of cunts. Me i was born in miles platting, lived on what they called the tripe colony, 3 clara st .imo every where has bad areas whitefield nice, radcliffe s/h. worsley nice, little hulton shithole. n/g pleasant, benchill s/h etc
