Interesting views from the shandy supping south Manc brigade, you sound like a bunch of cockneys.

I used to work for the Council all across the City and I was always most uncomfortable on the South. Longsight, Leve, Withington, Chorlton, all shitholes. Had me van screwed god knows how many times in Hulme and was appraoched by all sorts of tramps in Wythenshawe. Moss side, community spirit? Well they all keep quiet when Old Bill comes knocking I'll give them that.

North Manc isn't exactly posh but don't make out like theres this big cultural divide because there isn't.

hey there's nowt wrong with wizzandraw.

lived there 25 years.

character building of the highest.

He he he, don't get me wrong mate I've got a few mates in Wythy all blues obviously. Just makes me laugh how some of plebs on here think places like Leve are great and Harpurhey are shit, they not that different.

Good on you mate.
I worked for Direct works in 80's i only remember Hulme and moss side being "multi man" where you couldn't go alone.
I'm a North Manc and just always felt safer once i got north of Piccadilly
I suppose it's what your familiar with.
I have lived in Harpurhey though and it was ok tho that was about 12yrs ago.
I know it's not strictly M/cr but Ordsall and Seedley in Salford were very dodgy back in 80's

i agree with having a familiarity with an area helps . i've lived in a few of the areas mentioned in this thread . in north manc i've lived near tavistock square in the 70's ( harpurhey ) , damhead in the 80's ( blackley ) , pendleton , seedley , langworthy , duchy in the 90's ( salford ) and oldham since 2000 .
some deprived areas there , but there's alot more . travelling to christies i have the pleasure of travelling through areas such as newton heath , gorton , longsight , rusholme , fallowfield and withington . some lovely sights to behold along the way .

As i said mate you don't get shot if ur not involved in drugs/gangs...where are there nice places to go out in North Manchester? ...don't say town!!!

Theres some nice pubs in Woodhouses and although Failsworth isn't as good as it's used to be it's still a pretty decent night out if you stick to the right pubs

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.woodhouses.info/#/villagegallery/4518900465" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.woodhouses.info/#/villagegallery/4518900465</a>

Woodhouses is the only village in England with a cricket club and pitch, golf course and bowling green. Two good pubs, a Working Mens Club, golf and cricket clubs. Don't tell any of theose scroats from South Manchester though! My house is on one of these pictures but I'm not saying which it is!

Absolutely spot on mate. I'm born and bred North Manc, and moved to Chorlton, then Sale, now Cheshire.
South Mancs do seem to have a superiority complex over their Northern compatriots for some strange reason.
The North Manc response is usually "outside now then, you soft c*nt." Which I fully understand and quite like. South Manchester is full of pretentious bohemian arsewipes who have settled there because they lived on the Southside whilst at University. I don't get this impression from the Wythenshawe people I know, they're a bit more realistic.

If Manchester Uni was on Cheetham Hill Rd, Crumpsall would be like Chorlton and Prestwich would be Didsbury.
It's one City. The best city in England, with the nicest people and best music in the world. So drop the parochial snobbery, we're in this shit together. Up the blues.
