Maybe he did but there was no evidence or not enough. Step forward Max Clifford singing like a canary as he was a witness or confided in. Possibly.

Do we know that she didn't report it at the time?

Lessons have been learned since Saville was exposed. The police are more inclined to check things out a bit more nowadays.

Too many of these dirty bastards thought they'd got away with it just because they were famous.

How do they get evidence? It's one persons word against another?

So is every other rape case where the bloke doesn't deny that sex took place.

But plenty get convicted.

isn't 45 years to reporting it to 24 hours reporting it slightly different?

Of course it's different and obviously more difficult to get a conviction. But several people are saying that a conviction will be impossible as there will be no DNA or actual physical evidence etc.

I'm just saying if a rape is reported ten minutes after it happened and the bloke is saying it was consenual sex, the prosecution may well be in a pretty similar situation as in an historic case.

If he admits it and says it was consensual then it's rape as she was under the age of consent though.
