I used to work at Smithfield market,at dusk or there abouts the starlings would gather then take flight swooping and turning in a magical dance :), there must of been a million of them all as one twisting and turning, then you got the birds of prey dive bombing the throng , was an amazing sight to see.

I love that film, so quotable.

Here hare here.

i shall pass on that idea to the fellow, see if he knows about it.
(he's a city fan, should i stress that the cone be blue?)

he also said, although he insisted it was a little too noisy & likely to attract unwanted attention,
that if you couldn't get any mazzies you could use a fishing rod.
just put the hook in the raisin, lay in wait behind a tree and when the bird bites you reel it in.

i'm not sure how you'd make it die though.

Generally you grab the base of their neck and their head and twist the two in opposite directions.

You dont want bits of lead in your bird, easier to trap them and pluck them, rather than shoot them, pluck them and then have to remove the pellets.

As a tinker I thought you'd already know that.
You still have to gut the bird. Removing the pellets doesn't increase the workload.
