Health service, Water, Gas, Electric, Transport, Postal Services, all totally fucked due to shareholders
I love the sarcasm. In theory yes, in practice noThe post office don't deliver parcels or letters do they?
And there is the point. They even make you think what they want, thus allowing them to take even more while you’re distracted. The media run this country. Corrupt as fuck. Owned by the wealthy, print what benefits the wealthy (look at teams playing in red for easy examples). We may as well live in China, Russia or Korea.

Royal Mail deliver letters and parcels. The post office sells stamps and envelopes.I love the sarcasm. In theory yes, in practice no
AmendedRoyal Mail delivers fuck all except dividends to shareholders. The post office sells stamps and envelopes.
Who is kicking up about about good terms and conditions ?No, I comprehend perfectly well.
People who kick up about good terms and conditions obviously aren't particularly fussed if they are diluted.
Making profits from essential services is exploitation.Public services should always be run by government with the sole intention of providing the very best services possible.
We should all welcome that and be willing to pay for it.
We are paying a £31bn for the Trident replacement, for a start
The painful truth is that government spending has not kept up with the population or the demographic of the population (we have lot more elderly people living longer than ever)
You do make a point about expensive contrats, mainly given to companies wo have some form of connection with the Tory party
Assume when you say Trident you mean the ballistic missile sub replacements.
Just curious if you consider them worthwhile? (And I don't mean value for money)
Every council knows about what's coming.Who is kicking up about about good terms and conditions ?
Apart from yourself that is !
This thread is supposed to be abouth Birmingham council filing for bankruptcy (in as much as a council technically can), but as usual it's turned into perceived left vs right with personal jibes being thrown, and most ly by the usual folk.
Back to basics, the management of the council is disgraceful at the executive levels. They knew all about these costs for many years, yet never budgeted for them, just the same as our government knew about the costs of the concrete in schools many years ago, and through more than one or two administrations. Is that competant behavior ?
Yet it will be the good old taxpayer bailing these shysters out whilst they face no repercussions, or swan on to their next executive club job !
I see that you are another that only picks, and chooses the bits you want to comprehend, and ignore the rest. Then you go on to scream hysterically that anyone that veers from your opinion is a TORY.The good old taxpayer? The ones who voted for Tory tax cuts paid for by cutting funding to councils and now complaining about the consequences? That's you, that is.
Every council knows about what's coming.

Hmmm, how much trust do you put into a 7 year old report instigated/ compiled by CND groups?£205 billion ......

Lifetime cost of replacing Trident is at least £205bn, latest estimate suggests
The latest estimates take into account decommissioning and other related costs of renewalwww.independent.co.uk
Might be something to do with the size/status of the countrys second city, wouldn't you think ?

Perhaps if the councils hadn't spent decades underpaying their female employees, or maybe if the courts hadn't found it unlawful we wouldn't be in thiis mess.Local Govt is funded by taxes, so not entirely sure how else the problem will be solved. Perhaps if we hadn’t spent years underfunding local Govt - and pretty much everything else - we wouldn't be in this mess.
We voted in people who promised to underfund public services so you can’t say they didn’t deliver on their promises :)
Tax cuts benefit only the rich.
I've never understood why anyone who relies on government services (that's probably 95% of us) would vote for low tax, and consequently, low spending on essential services yet a lot of ordinary people have bought into this hype.
The chickens seem to be coming home to roost.
Perhaps if the councils hadn't spent decades underpaying their female employees, or maybe if the courts hadn't found it unlawful we wouldn't be in thiis mess.
Perhaps if highly paid executives who are well paid to sort out, and alleviate problems took some responsibility for something they knew about we wouldn't be in this mess.
There are lots of perhaps, but here we are. Perhaps every council in the country could down tools and declare bankruptcy, that'll show them hey ?
