Biscuits and Gravy.....what are they?

I was flying to the US on Virgin and had an American woman sat next to me. They served up “afternoon tea” which consisted of a cuppa with scones, jam and clotted cream. The woman was most put out that they had given her biscuits with sultanas in them and was further horrified to see I was spreading the jam and cream on it. I had eaten biscuits and gravy on a previous trip to Texas so knew what she was on about. I spent the next half hour putting her right on what biscuit and cookies were. Plus, I explained that scones were both sweet or cheese flavoured just to add to her confusion.
 
My Son has just been offered a place playing lacrosse in North Carolina for Methodist University. So I may find out.
 
Ok hold on...

Biscuits and gravy is one of the best things on this god dammed planet. I will excuse the ignorance in this thread as you all obviously lack the sophisticated palates to enjoy such culinary masterpieces
