Bitcoin (cryptocurrency)

What are peoples thoughts on a company trying to take on Youtube using blockchain? Where all the content creators and the miners get the profits and not the company? Was reading abit about it yesterday, a few start ups are trying to achieve this. And with Youtube becoming more and more strict with its content creators there is a chance they could poach a few.

So entrepreneurs and investors are building companies to make sure that the companies don’t make profits?

The start ups pre mine their own coins, so their hardwork pays off when the coin goes up in value.

I see some of these ideas pitched in angel and venture forums. It feels like people creating a business supposedly for the public good to increase the value of something they own of dubious value. I’m not sure blockchain or crypto make solving perceived problems of the you tube world any easier. Feels like a solution in search of a problem.

Hard for a startup to take on a multi-billion dollar business, using untried methods and no proof they can deliver what they aim to achieve. The people who make youtube what it is are earning big money, why would they rock the boat?

Seems fanciful and unlikely, especially in an industry that is so heavily monopolised already.

And it does a token sale before launch, apparently a Chinese hedge fund or investor has just given a company £20mil for this concept.

20m Sterling? Or did they invest with a token they mined in a currency they invented? I’m trying not to be cynical. I do see blockchain investments going on in my circle. But all in the logistics and B2B area.

It will never compete head on like you say, but it could do well if marketed properly I guess it could still make it's own money. Will take years I'd imagine, YouTube could combat it straight away by being less stringent on their content creators.

Nooo they bought £20mil of pre mined tokens, it should give the company time to work on the concept without the coin going on the exchange. Funny you should mention logistics saw something about one of the big shipping/cargo firms being interested in blockchain today. Didn't read the article though.

People are clever someone had a rumour circulating a coin called Vibe was in a super bowl advert. (it was however only at the back on the sly) anyway it got pumped up and dumped. Buy the rumour sell the news haha, I bought 5 litecoin this week awaiting litepay to be released hopefully the price continues to go up.

Markets just went up today.
Good times gonna come :)
