Bitter, Bitter Spurs Fans.

Ah yes, the old "history" argument again from fans who believe football began in 1992. What is Spurs' crowning achievement of the last 20 years? Winning the League Cup?
Just remind me aswell, how many more league titles have Spurs won more than City?.

Not too worried about a Spud supporter opinion here. In a fortnight or so, the new fixture will be released, and then our 67 points on the table will officially be last season's history. It is great fun to be a City supporter at this time in history. I cannot begrudge a Spuds supporter-or any other team supporter-a bit of jealousy about our situation. Except Rag supporters-they cause me to experience Schadenfreude. And I do love the green and yellow thingie they wear about their neck. I have a couple rolls of them in the loo.

I like how you base the opinions of all Spurs fans from the opinions on one obscure forum. Nice touch

Yeah, because we all suddenly formed an opinion of Spurs fans based on that thread... Or perhaps we held these views before, and threads like that simply reinforce it. Maybe you're referring to the generalisation of Spurs fans? If that is the case, when you're talking about tens of thousands of people of course there are going to be a significant number of people who do not fit into that generalisation. However, that being the case, it simply won't be possible to have an opinion on any set of fans. I prefer to generalise and have an opinion. Feel free to do the same.

I was doing my usual rounds on rival forums to see who other clubs are being linked with and i found this.

]Don't worry Man City are a crap team with no history and they will never gel well enough to even get into champions league let alone win the league don't worry it will be proved you can't buy success!

Ha Ha Ha Ha... How bitter can you get? They're incensed that even though they finished in a CL playoff spot we will still attract a better class of player. Noobs.

LOL

I suppose their threads are like ours, and slag off all other teams. They're not bitter, they're just ripping the piss out of us, exactly as we're doing to them on this thread. Mind you, can't stand Spurs myself, 1981 and all that....

True! As a set if fans we're terrible for being bitter towards other clubs, there were even posters on here calling Villa a shit club around the time we played them! That one quote the OP found may have been from a twat of a Spurs fan but there are many twats who follow City who are just as deluded, can't judge all Spurs fans on that!

There were also plenty of Bluemooners defending Villa, and I was one of them. I do agree that judging a set of fans from a forum is a shite idea. However, I don't think City fans are judging Spurs fans from forums. I think City fans have generally disliked Spurs fans from long before the days of internet forums. I certainly know City fans who dislike Spurs who've never been on a forum. Maybe football phone-ins are to blame?

As we have seen in previous threads, they have spent a similar amount to us over a 5 year period.

Sorry but this is absolutely ludicrous. I know stats can prove anything but c'mon, are you really comparing our spending to yours?

First of all, looking at the last 5 years is fairly misleading straight off the bat, because first of all almost all of your first team was bought in the last 2 years. I personally don't follow Man City's team very closely, but who in your starting XI was bought more than two years ago? Onuoha? As far as I know Ireland and Richards aren't starters for you.

Looking at the last 2/3 years spending is much more accurate to compare spending IMO, since as I have mentioned thats when most of your players have come in.

Furthermore, how many £20m players have you sold in the last few years? We got £30m+ for Berbatov, £20m+ for Keane, £18m for Carrick. I'd venture a guess that those three alone probably equal Man City sales for the same period, but I haven't really done the leg work. Add in other sales throughout the years and Im confident we have got substantially more money in from player sales which has then been put back into buying players, which inflates our spending figures.

I honestly don't know a single Spurs fan who would trade our positions right now. Sure you will end up in the Champions League eventually and might even end up with a title, but theres always that fear that you will be left in financial ruin if/when the money runs out. Even if you don't have to pay the transfer money back, if they decide to up and leave you'll be left with alot of mega contracts that you wont be able to afford.

To be honest mate I can't understand the concern about why Spurs and so many other clubs are commenting on what would happen 'if the owners got sick and walk away'. Can't you say that about any foreign owned club?

In any case they would still have to sell the club to someone else who could afford to take on their vision.

I have no problem with Spurs finishing 4th, I said months ago that the 'old top 4' needed breaking up for the future of the game and I think it's great that things have got more competitive.

Spurs have to build on this now to consolidate that position unlike Everton 5 years ago. personally I wouldn't swap places with any Spurs fan. When we achieve top 4 we will have a good chance of making sure it not 'an overnight stay' for us.

Arsenal and Liverpool need to worry at the moment. Both as well as United will need to invest again in their squad.

This 'no history' thing I'm sure is said purely in banter rather than a statement of fact. Any club who has won a European trophy and achieved a double must have had a fairly decent era at some point. But it never surprises me the ignorance and naivity of some fans in general especially when it comes to making the effort to log on to another clubs forum - just shows how much feathers continue to be ruffled.

Enjoy the summer......it will soon be over.

Had to post something on there. They are so bitter. Calling the Europa league and stuff, when we all know they will end up in it soon enough after dropping out of CL.

Like I said to them if you drive an Escort and win the Lottery you buy a Lambo, so here we are going getting the Lambo, but paying over the odds to get it first.
I thought that if you get beaten in the CL qualifier, you don't even drop to the europa league. So they could end up having no european footy.

Whatever round you get knocked out of in Champions League you go into the next round of the Europa League.

Spurs will enter the Europa League at the group stage if they lose their Champions League play-off tie.

Fenerbache, Dyanmo Kiev, Braga, Auxerre, Sampdoria, Celtic, PAOK, Unirea, Young Boys, Gent

Spurs will face one of the above sides.
