Blackpool v CITY - Official Match Thread

Re: Blackpool

Dont agree with you OP - Blackpools bubble will burst, maybe not yet, but defo after xmas. I also think we will find it much easier to overturn teams like them who try to play football than those who shut up shop.

Must win game but think many don't realize how tough of a game it'll be.

They will probably stay up this year just on team spirit alone if anything, will be a tough, tough place to go and win for most teams this year.

and you base this analysis on what - their home form so far?

W-0
D-1
L-1

Goals for - 3
Against - 4

= 1 point out of a potential 9.

They certainly seem to have goals in them (against weaker clubs), but also seem to ship qquite a few, and to thier credit, they try to play football - not put 10 men behind the ball or hoof and hope.

They are up against the second best (based on goals conceded) defence in the league, and cetainly one of the best counter-attacking teams.

To me, they are almost the ideal opposition - it should be a good game with a few goals in it - I'll go for 3-1 in City's favour.

The games that I am still not confident about and the ones that we have to find a way to win are the likes of Stoke and Birmingham away.

---------------Hart-------------
Boateng--Kolo--Kompany--Bridge
-------------De Jong------------
----------Milner-----Barry-------
---------------Silva------------
--------Tevez----Adebayor-----

Width to come from full backs pushing on

I'd take any win. And I think we'll shade it, but I'm expecting a tough game

In an ideal world we should dedicate this game to the memory of Big Mal and thrash them 5-0 but somehow I doubt that will happen. Fingers crossed though.

Got my tickets for this I am in the home end. You will be able to spot me I am the only one not wearing Orange. To all the lads going make sure you take a big coat when I tell you its cold in the East Stand trust me it is fooking freezing.

You have to respect a team that wins at Anfield and St James. they will be confident, and well up for it as most teams are when they play us

We must get the 1st goal and not give them any hope in the 1st half

If we can start winning games like this, then we know we are going places.

hart

de jong
barry

milner

silva tevez aj

would hope for 3-1 win very confident this weekend tevez2 and kolo

Difficult game despite the quality at our disposal . It will be scrappy and Blackpool you know will be well up for it . If we go in thinking it will be easy then we may get beat we go in with a winning menatlity , the same we have against chelsea , arsenal etc. we can win comfortably .

--------------Hart-------------
Richards/Zaba--Kolo------Vinnie---Bridge/Zaba
-------------NDJ-------------
------Milner--------Barry--------
AJ------------------------Silva
------------Tevez

3-1 City , we have too much quality for them to handle they will be a handful going forward but with our attack we should tear the defence apart . (Tevez, Silva, Milner)

For those going:

Arrive early. I was out last night with one of the turnstile operators at Bloomfield Road. He works the away end. There will be only 4 turnstiles open for us.

Go before you go. And go again! There were only a handful of portaloos for their last home game against Blackburn. Things may have improved (that was 3 weeks ago) but don't bank on it.

No beer in the ground. And very limited catering of the pie and bovril variety.

2 pubs nearby are for away fans only and the police will secure them and escort you to the ground. They are the Castle on Central Drive (bigger but further away) and the Old Bridge House on Lytham Road. A small number of Blackpool fans will want to have a go so keep your wits about you.
